Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

The second that Saban retired, I expected a 2-3 year rebuild. The transfer portal makes it almost impossible for a guy like Les Miles to come in and win a championship with the previous head coach's players.

If you can hold onto Sayin, it will be a one year rebuild. Really, really need to hold on to him.
I dont look for him to leave.............somewhere there was a blurb about him talking about playing for the new coach

Bond is. He didn't mention Milroe, but said it all the same. Read what he said. He left for a QB who would get him the ball and improve his NFL draft stock.

Do not have any doubt. I get it. I have said all year long that our ceiling with Milroe at QB is not nearly as high as with some other QBs on staff. Milroe struggles reading coverage and cannot see the field. That has to be frustrating for a WR. In the past, our WRs couldn’t get separation. Maybe that’s because of evaluations during Covid and we just didn’t do a good job so they are all gone now from the team. But we had WRs waiving their hands wide open.

We will have some losses on talent for this reason and the transition In staff. The portal will give and take. Right now it is taking. We have a long way to go. It will open back up in April once again. it’s going to be a long off season for us fans but there is a lot to be excited about. Change is hard. I’m excited about the future.

That said, we need some quick changes to the infrastructure of college football including the signing period and the portal business. Hopefully CNS can help with that. I hope he gets the opportunity to do so.

Until then, kids will be kids. I cannot imagine what I would have done at age 16 and everyone celebrating me like I am a rock star. Unless there is an adult providing sage advice, we will continue to see this sort of antics. For now, it is open season on Bama. This was inevitable. We will need to focus more on our collective with no more CNS discount so just be advised of that if you are so inclined. Texas has a lot of oil and gas money. Until there is some framework with caps on spending, it’s going to be crazy. Why do you think A&M left and why do you think they are mad for UT coming In? We are finding out! As for Kirby, it’s personal when it comes to Bama. Going to be interesting.

I don’t look for anything to be resolved concerning QB1 in the spring. I expected the competition to continue into Fall camp. We may get an inkling of the direction it may be going, but I don’t expect things to be settled.

And that could be the worst possible thing with an open portal after spring practice.

Couldn't agree more with the Milroe comment.

Yes he is a very good runner but he lacks some of the basic quarterback attributes and it really shows at this level.

SECCG was a good example. Looked like a deer in headlights for most of the game.

I'm going to say something I know some of you will disagree with, but I believe it's hard to "judge" a young player making decisions in today's college football climate.

Try putting yourself in their shoes and realize some of these guys (like Bond and Niblack) are making decisions that might be multi-million dollar decisions about their future.

Before anyone says it, I agree it was disrespectful for Bond not to at least acknowledge CKD's overture, but he going to a situation that he believes is a "surer thing" in terms of who he knows will be throwing to him.

milroe's status is that he has (at least so far) decided to stay with his team. to me, that says a lot about him, but that's jmho.
To me, it says that he is confident that he will keep his job as the starting QB. It might mean more. We will have to see how it plays out.

I agree with the respect comment, but disagree with the sales call part. Call it whatever you wish, but it was a sales call. And if he had already made up his mind, it was a sales call from a competitor.

Respect answers the phone, the rest doesn't matter. The most important thing is the respect, or in this case the lack there of.

To be the face of 4th and 31 and then transfer is kind of odd.

But its more of a reflection on how much CFB is being ruined then it is his decision-making.

Portal is ruining CFB as we know it. All about $$$

So you are saying that when I choose not to answer a sales call, I am being disrespectful?

Your personal phone calls by vendors or random sales people is nothing ike this situation. Not even close. The right thing to do in this situation is answer the phone and say "Coach, I've made my mind up and I am transferring. Thank you for calling."

I agree. I hope he learns from this. Maybe Sark will encourage him to return the call. I would if I were in his sphere of influence.

Bond is showing us her true character (or lack thereof).
