I hear you. But I don't think college football is that way anymore. These players are in a transactional relationship with the universities. They give their talent, hard work, to the school - the school gives them an education, world class development, and a place to grow value for their brand (coach Saban's words).Of course people have left one job for a higher paying one. That's called moving up the ladder. The key word is "job". When did getting a full scholarship to play college football become a "job". The players are supposed to be student athletes, but the NCAA's complete failure to establish any guidelines for NIL money or the portal has obliterated the game I used to love. If we are going to consider the scholarships "jobs", then we might as well just start putting the players under contract. Sign with BAMA and you get a 4-year deal worth how ever many dollars. You can leave, but you have to buy out the contract.
I'm not hear to argue with anybody. I'm just old school, and remember, when, just a few short years ago, a commitment to a team meant something. Now it's just "you develop 'em, we'll steal 'em". Biggest bank roll wins!!
If the circumstances change - like the greatest coach EVER retires - i dont begrudge them for reevaluating. I dont care for the way Bond didnt answer the phone when CKD called, i think that was the wrong way to handle that. But we don't all have to agree. Cheers
