Yes, it is indeed useless hand wringing, but I think subconsciously it`s occurring due to the feeling that we may be watching something truly special, that was crafted over a 17 year period, being unraveled over a 30 day or so period. It`s a very uncomfortable feeling when you`re pretty much only left with the hope that your fears are misplaced and overblown and that it won`t be that bad. As if that`s not enough, I think we`re all distraught at watching the as of yet unfettered destruction of the game we all have come to love over most of our times on the planet.
Almost like we’re “staring down the barrel of a gun”. Really like the ncaa is “winning” against bama decades later

Something like that is going to have to happen to get this thing fixed. I don’t see how these players are staying academically eligible with how this is playing out.
So a bit of research on this and I THINK I know how they get away with it… Many universities apparently have policies that allow EARLY enrollment for athletes. Likely what they do is allow them to enroll really early for the fall semester, which allows them to participate in spring practice. They don’t have to be in any classes yet to participate in practice, just enrolled in the school - much like NCAA allows early enrollees to participate in bowl practice.

Where do they live? I know, mansions, they can afford it…If you’re not a student you can’t use the facilities, right? They get an entire semester to just hang and workout? This is crazy…

I don't think it's any coincidence that most of these transfers are DBs. They came to play for Nick Saban and his pedigree with defensive backs. Kirby is probably the next closest thing. It sucks and I'm not happy about it, but it is what it is. You can't get another Downs, but it's time to hit up the portal and find someone that wants to be here and play in this defense and can at least help fill the gaps.
Well, we do have 2 DBs coming in from Washington. And Domani Jackson transferring in from USC. We'll.be ok.

SIAP, have not read this whole thread but they were just talking on local Iowa sports radio that Kadyn Proctor will probably be entering the portal here in the next day or so and that the "smoke" is he wants to go back home to Iowa.

Yep…we’ve been expecting that too…

Tell me where it is fair were teams who have a coach who retires, fired, quits,etc... player's on these teams have 30 days to transfer and other teams can poach where teams like Bama have to wait till after spring to get a transfer? Also these kid's are chasing the money, I'm surprised about Downs because his family has always been about commitment, money changes everything

Dude wants to win…that may take a year or two here again…by then he’s in the league.

I don't really think its about money for Downs. This kid is as surefire an NFL prospect as they come, Minkah 2.0 in a lot of ways. It's either he's following Robinson or he's just flat not comfortable with the staff in general.

I’ve mostly stayed quite while watching all this transfer garbage unravel. This one really chaps my you know what. We spent a tough season watching this kid struggle, stayed positive with him, coached him up, just to watch him bail now on his remaining teammates. I’m taking a break until spring and will pull for whoever sticks around.
