Guys used to come here solely for Nick Saban. Not Bama. Saban. He is now gone.
NIL stinks but is here to stay. The bad thing is that we don't have Yellawood money, Texas money, Texas A&M money, Miami money, etc. Not sure how much money Georgia has but they have Kirby and winning recently, which appeals to recruits.
DeBoer going forward will just have to do more with less. It will come down to coaching when Bama is no longer signing top 5 classes. We will win because he can coach better than the guy on the opposing sideline. It will be new world without Saban and we can just hope that DeBoer can get enough guys in the first few years to win so it maybe opens it up a little more to some other guys that decide they want to win more than they want the money.

Man the start of spring classes couldn’t come soon enough
I have a hard time believing this idea that Bama is gonna be a bunch of 3 stars going forward. I think once the dust settles, we will attract top players. Maybe not be able to just stockpile 4 and 5 stars like we are used to with Saban, but more than enough to still compete for championships with good coaching.

They will fix this 30 day portal ....next year. After they let it hurt us so bad. It’s Bama against the world. Always has been.
Irrelevant. These guys will be given spots and inserted into classes right up until the end of this 30 day free agency free for all. Both going and coming. Classes are irrelevant.
It feels more mercenary because it is more mercenary and CNS contributed to that attitude with his "create value for yourself" pitch on top of his "Alabama provides the best preparation for the NFL" pitch. Not that either was wrong but it creates a certain atmosphere. Much of the fanbase chimes in with reference after reference to the number of first-round picks, etc. Now we have NIL and the TP, created by the adults. What do we think kids are going to think?
I admire and applaud players who want to be part of a "team" and appreciate and prefer that attitude, but just have a hard time being too critical of a kid who maximizes money or status - because we, i.e., college football, have created that atmosphere. (The team environment can still exist but it is harder and harder to create and maintain, especially with coaches often moving on after success enables them.)
Though it feels like Alabama is being raped, and I too am sickened, what is going to be Alabama's response? It is going to go to the portal and take as many players as they think they need to upgrade their roster. And there will be at least a few, if not more, fans who will delight in taking players from some unfortunate program that will diminish their roster, in some cases may cripple them. Washington fans are crushed that Alabama took their coach and will now cherry-pick some of their best players from their depleted roster. Taking coaches has been around forever, now it's players too. It's part of the even more vicious dog-eat-dog world of college football.
What college football has done to itself is criminal and has debased most of us, coaches, players and fans, or maybe just revealed what we are by nature.
But college football is a microcosm of our country - dominated by cowards and fools. Hopefully, there's some help on the way for football, assuming we don't wind up in the wrong court.
But in Alabama's case, things will likely turn out OK, just more unpleasant than we prefer

He supposedly comes from a tight family and his cousin Malik was a freshman this year for Texas. Highly ranked 2023 DB.
Teams are simply trying to take pieces away from us. They aren’t even adding for themselves. Or so it seems.
Hope so, feel like we need some sort of a "win" transfer wise with all these players leaving.
I know the blowback will come with this post, but I am putting it out anyway. There will be some who agree and some will disagree for a whole bevy of reasons. I get it.
I guess my first question to the board is this. How many of you would turn down a half million to a million or even more dollar offer from a competitor to come work with them? Same job, same responsibilities just at a different location. I don't know many people who would say no to that offer.
Most of these kids come from poverty stricken homes and are now being offered more money then they could have ever imagine. Most of them chose Alabama because of Nick and his track record of putting players in the NFL. More so, in the first round. They had no allegiance to Alabama or the University. We talk about loyalty, team and they're thinking about their future, as they should. They could get injured the first play next year and never play another down of FB again. Career over, but they will have more money then what a lot of people will make after thirty years of working.
I hate what has happened to CFB! It is being ruined right in front of our eyes and needs to be fixed! I for one am not going to hold the kids responsible for what is taking place. They're just taking advantage of the situation.
I do have faith in CKD to right the ship. His track record of winning and improving year over year has me very excited about the future of Alabama Football.
