Kirby & Texas will probably just continue reap all the benefits

They have all the $ and the momentum currently moving forward. Time will only tell if Daboer is more like Saban or more like Billy Napier
Saban is not really a fair comparison. Saban is the greatest of all time. If we are expecting Saban or bust, then we're gonna be mighty disappointed. I've been saying DeBoer is Urban Meyer without the baggage, and I think that's a little more realistic than him being the next Saban. I still believe that's what he is.That hasn't changed just because a few people have left. Give this man some time, and everything will be just fine

I hope we make the state of Alabama a priority once again in regards to our recruiting. As many have said, a lot if not most of the guys leaving came here to play for CNS. The state in this past recruiting cycle was loaded and as many of us know, playing here means something if you’re from the state. I know we can’t do that exclusively, but we need to avoid the Rev. Hugh Sleeze taking over. I have a lot of friends that are high school coaches and they’re excited to attend CKD’s first clinic this spring. RTR

I am hoping that Deboer is the old school guy that he seems to be and that he will not be held hostage by these players and their handlers. If you want to be at Bama and work hard to win and prepare yourself for your future, come on in and let's get to work. If you want to play games and constantly be angling for more money, head to other places. It really is that simple. ROLL TIDE!
agree—thats what i was gettin at. :)

I don't know it its just nay sayers or infiltrators in disguise but some of the negativity sure feels like barner's or LSPuker's trying to stir the pot. Maybe I'm just overreacting but something is amiss.

Pretty funny because I just get off the phone with my wife (she graduated from Alabama and likes football but was still probably happy to get me off the phone), where I'd literally just cited Saban's record at Michigan St, then I read this.

Of course my point was the importance of recruiting to success, heh...
it is the chicken or egg argument. if it was only recruiting Jimbo would still be coaching at A&M. Da Coach O had talent at LSU but still was canned. by talent alone Bama should have won the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 N.C.'s. by star power alone the U.S. Navy Seals should be littered with 6'3" 240 lb monsters. they are not. It breaks down like this and there are a million sayings but all are the same. The body will not go where the mind does not take it. Hard work beats talent when talent refuses to work hard. I'd rather have a flock of sheep led by a lion than lions lead by sheep. Remember when we all was wondering why Will Anderson blamed the lose to Tennessee on "anxiety"??

Let's go further back. Everybody thought when Coach Saban finally got Julio Jones to commit that he was the one person most responsible for that 09 recruiting class? If i remember Julio committed on NSD or shortly before. The kid that opened the flood gates was Chris Black. that is not my opinion but a bunch beat writers have said that. the kid was uber athletic. off the line no DB could touch him. go back and look at his film. he was the original "Oh mama there goes my ankles" WR. you don't remember him do you? he may have caught 3 passes in 4 years before leaving. nobody knows how someone will develop from high school to college to the NFL. The landscape is littered with "Can't miss players."

I think the better way to illustrate the value of playing for Alabama is to look at the quality of the teams over the years who didn't have Bryant or Saban as Head Coach. Those were the kids playing for Bama.

When I was a kid I wanted nothing more than to grow up to play for Coach Bryant not necessarily Alabama, although they were synonymous at the time. Alot kids have felt the same way about Saban over the years. Nothing wrong with that.

But without Bryant or Saban, Alabama is an average 8-9 win team in its history...

Alabama needs to improve this track more than anything. Then you get kids coming regardless who the coach is because it's obvious you know how to get good coaches to come to the school. This means top notch facilities, well-funded NIL, active alumni, fervent fanbase, and NFL track record.

Sure, but it also includes Drew, Whitworth, Perkins, Curry, Dubose, Franchione, Price, Shula, and Deboer.

What is the collective record without the GOATs?

My point is our AD execution over our history has not been as strong as our coaching history.
