There was a one armed dude at one of those florida schools that I would love to have had a couple years ago. He may not have had A star...

No, I wasn't assuming anything. On paper, it just didn't look like an Alabama linebacker. I'm sure he did great at South Alabama. Maybe he will for the Tide as well.

It's clear we prioritize guys who've been playing in the system, look at who we took on offense. Even if his frame or talent keeps him off the field, he'd be very valuable at helping that unit adapt to the new system

Do we even still have any scholarships left?

My thinking is no. Otherwise I think we would have taken jacobs.

i think it comes down to if they wanted to make room or not and maybe decided they couldn't or shouldn't.

Taking jacobs would probably mean greyshirting another incoming freshman and we have to balance if we'd rather get that kid on campus and in the program or taking an experienced transfer. There were one or two guys in the 25 class that will probably benefit from a GS year but beyond that I think I want all the others on the team next year. Noah Carter may also provide some depth at LB even though he's listed as an edge. (And he was a massive pick up when deboer came in)

He was a feel good story for sure - Griffin at UCF.

Never would have been more than a special teams player for us, at best during that time. He was a 2013 recruit, and in the timeframe he would have been on the team we had;

Trey Depriest
Dillon Lee
Reggie Ragland
Rueben Foster
SD Hamilton
Rashaan Evans
Mack Wilson
Dylan Moses (very productive till injury which would have been after Griffin's time)

as the starters, with a whole host of really talented guys behind them at times and I don't see him beating any of those guys out, especially since he didn't play at UCF till his 4th (redshirt junior) season so that would have been Foster, Hamilton, Evans Wilson and early Moses he had to beat out - just not happening...
