It seems to me that we already have enough suspect shooters among our wings, assuming Reid and Stevenson stay, which is no guarantee. Neither is it a given that Rylan's touch returns. A bigger need for this team: at least two legitimate point guards. In the end, whatever Nate decides is fine with me.
Rylan is more of a 2 than a 3 so I don't consider him a wing. Agreed on point guards. I think we made top 4 for a 5* PG in high school.

I'm 50/50 on Griffen. I always liked him, but I kinda feel like there are more pressing needs. We're all looking at it from the lense of missing him this past season, but would we be saying that if Mallette hadn't gotten hurt? He is great at a lot of the same stuff as Rylan, and he's coming back. He's about the same height as Rylan too, maybe an inch shorter. I don't think it was so much that we missed him as it was that his replacement got hurt. If we go to 15 scholarships, then we should absolutely get Griffen back, but to have room for him otherwise would mean someone has to go, and it likely wouldn't be a guard, so it may weaken us in other areas. We do need to grab another guard, but i think it needs to be a more dominant scorer, not necessarily a role player like Griffen, because Mallette can play that role.

If CNO wants RG back, I'll be excited about it.

For context, I didn't watch one complete game he played at Kansas, so I couldn't tell you their style of play. But I know his production fell off there, and it might just signal a situation like Holloway at AU in 2023: good player but in the wrong system.

But this I do remember about RG: He's not the kind of player you build an offense around, but he is the kind of player that you need in CNO's type of offense. He'll give us 20-25 minutes a game of a long, athletic guard who, when he's on a hot streak, can take over a game from distance.

But again, if CNO wants him back, that means CNO sees a place for his game to be resurrected again!

Mo Dioubate hitting the portal.

Not completely surprised as he has some NBA type skills but might not get minutes to show scouts like he wants. I know us fans want to bring in all these guys to be really deep with 10+ guys but that just isn’t realistic anymore. The guys here feel they waited there time but then get minutes taken away from guys coming in. Some of these guys might come back but you mise well test the waters and see what out there.

I wonder if Corey Chest is the play now, with Dioubate leaving. I'd read earlier in the week that there was a very good chance he signs with us. This may open the door to that.

Yeah I'm hoping he's just testing the waters as well. He's been the closest thing we had to a player like Herb in a while. We need at least 2 role players that can come in and play clamp down D and make hustle plays.

Here is a highlight video. Looks to have the same body type and inside game as Clifford and a better looking 3 than Grant.

In my opinion he's not a replacement for Cliff in any way. Perhaps for Grant because he's 6'10".

Instead, he's just a super long 3 or 4. I think this is CNO going for more height. He may play the 4 spot but probably rarely the 5.

And imagine the flexibility we'd have to go with the 7 foot transfer at 5, along side of Sherrell at the 4 with Bowen at the 3. Talk about going with a big line up!
