Transfer portal opens today.

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

He gives me little Holloway vibes as former big time recruit and went to a school that didn’t really fit his style well. Hopefully like Aiden we can get those raw skills to come out more and see him reach his potential. He has to have some skills being ranked that high but the production at college level wasn’t there. They both came in as great shooting prospects as well but both shot under 31% from 3 in freshman season.

Seems like a heck of a transfer class so far.
Maybe it is me but I still would like a guy or two that is a proven player. The guy from Miami and FSU have some skills and potential but haven’t proven much at the college level. The guy from Bucknell looks more ready to step in right away and contribute but the Patriot league to SEC is a big jump. Last year we got Cliff who had proven self in Big Ten and Youngblood who was player of year in his conference both veteran players as well. Hopefully we bring a veteran guy like those two as we are losing a lot of our best players in Sears, Nelson, Cliff, Youngblood all those type guys.

Great point about CNO's eye for talent and how some who are misfitted at other places can be plugged into his.

I honestly didn't keep up with the Hollaway ordeal at AU, but I was amazed he shot it so poorly there with his pure stroke. Hopefully this guy is similar. He seems like a replacement for Youngblood with a tad more size.

The 7 footer is an offensive upgrade to Cliff. Not sure about his defense.

And Bowen seems a perfect plug for Stevenson. Same body and size but Bowen has proven he can shoot the 3.

I agree. I think who we got so far is pretty good barring we keep Philon. Lose him then we are hurting. Either way we do need another guard that can handle the ball. Hopefully get that recruit to commit to us and that helps.

As far as a proven player every team wants that. Hopefully we have someone we are going after but I don’t remember getting that kind of portal player yet under CNO.

Cliff was sought after by almost every team in the country looking for a big man last season fwiw...

While it's our interest and concern and love for basketball that causes us to post about the roster, isn't it good that we have a HC that kids are dying to play for??? I know we can't get every player we want, but we run a system that a high profile type player will really want to play in. Talk about a platform that emphasizes your offensive abilities and encourages you to shoot as much as you want!

Compare that to a UT program that wants to slow the game down. Why would a great player want that when they could play for a Bama, BYU or Duke who encourages a fast pace???

So, while we don't have deep NIL pockets, we've got things to offer!!!

Cliff was a big get but I should have phrased it better as in a lottery potential type player that can really get it. Cliff was a must get and did awesome. I thought Youngblood was going to be more of a dominant player but never fully got there. Injuries significantly slowed him and he was more hit or miss. Great role player.

Updated portal targets. The Jax St guard appears to have been contacted now. Heard Michigan is paying the UAB kid between $2M-$4M.

Not happy Mo went with KY. He's the kind of player (and with extra motivation when they play us) that gives us fits!

But, I'm happy he didn't go to a bottom dweller either!

Ian Jackson entered the portal another big guard from UNC that would fit our our style well. He was a top recruit from Bronx was ranked higher than Reid and Bethea. He was great early in year then lost his stroke down the stretch. Not sure we will have nil money for him though as Kentucky wanted him last year.

It doesn't look like we are going to get any extra scholarships in time for it to make a difference for this year, since the judge seems to be dragging out the house settlement approval for awhile longer. Everyone is going to be signed by the time this thing gets approved. If we want anyone else for this upcoming year, then that means either Philon, Stevenson, or Reed has to leave. I'd personally be fine with what we have, if everyone wants to come back.

Does anyone else just feel the irony or disgust every time a transfer posts a picture with “COMMITED” in large letters? There’s no commitment anymore. They should just be honest and put “HIGHEST BIDDER”,” “BOUGHT,” or “RENTED.” Sadly 3-4 schools in 3-4 years is just a reflection of our throw away/microwave society.

We have 4 back, 3 freshmen, 3 from portal, 3 TBD. We will see.
