Trump Attacks Iran, II

The biggest problem is that we don’t understand who is our enemy , what our enemy is, and what our enemy is capable of. There is a reason that the term “military intelligence” is always jokingly used as an oxymoron when things go bad. Most military upper ranks give over enthusiastic views on potential war capabilities to the degree that they ignore any potential issues with implementing military operations.

This is ironic example but Xeres believed that a massive land invasion on Greece would solve the issues that his father Darius faced in the first war with Greece. What is often forgotten is that he had ex Spartan kings in his inner circle that warned him that the geography of Greece would be a massive obstacle and would allow the Greeks to unite under one banner to resist him. They warned him that numerical superiority would not achieve victory and would break against the geographic hazards of mainland Greece.

Another example is Barbarossa. Hitler believed his generals in that his mechanized superiority and lighting fast pace would be take down the Russian colossus. But what he found out was 1) what Napoleon found out in that there was no true objective that would force Soviet capitulation and 2) that his generals only used half of the Russian population in their estimations. Soviet women had a huge impact in turning the tide of the war as the Wehrmacht overran Russia in 1941. Many of the German airmen have been on record that they found the most difficult opposing airmen were the Russian Night Witches.

I think the old quote “the first casualty in war is truth” is the most true statement ever made. War is a very complicated political action in which there are too many variables to factor in until you are actually in it. I think any reports coming from those countries involved should be treated as propaganda at this point. I think it’s foolish at this point to suggest that the regime is dying because it’s still firmly in control of military operations and still controls the strait. I think equally is that destroying the regime would solve the issue. Because the one truth that has been revealed is that the US navy alone can’t secure the Strait. If the regime was to fall you have to consider a new age of piracy along the strait because everyone now understands that massive warships can’t stay there forever and even if they did they can’t hold it open indefinitely.

I think we have opened up a can of worms that we shouldn’t and we may have finally realized why previous administrations never attempted a direct war with Iran.

Indeed, but my fear is that each remnant just fades into society and then they operate as terrorist cells. We will never be able to eradicate any opposition that operates a terrorist strategy.
100% truth.

But a terrorist organization has a far lesser chance of developing nuclear weapons.

And after seeing how Iran has lied repeatedly and attacked random neighbors due to their religioius fanatiacism, I'd much rather take my chances with whack-a-mole muslim idiot cave-dwellars than an oil-sponsored state with the same goals.

Maybe we can get the Gulf States to send in Boots on the ground with US air support.

I read a lot on this. And I'm in despair.

One side you have ORANGE MAN BAD.
On the other side you have PWN THE LIBS

Both sides talking about how they "won" on a particular issue.

I have a question. When does America win? When do We The People win?

The rest is just children squabbling.

Amazing how stupid that would be…. Yeah lets contaminate the gulf with nuclear fallout because we made a serious miscalculation of Iran’s military capabilities.

What we are seeing here is Trump has no idea what to do when someone calls him on his Big man bravado. We made fun of Putin for his invasion of Ukraine but we are here with making the most costly disaster in the Middle East since the Suez crisis.

Our Gulf partners must be thinking the Chinese are more pragmatic and useful allies than us right now.

Also, no one has ever in the history of ever come to terms with the Russian's willingness to throw endless people at the enemy no matter the cost. Historically, the Russians have not out-technologied or out-witted their opponents (although their opponents have made some egregious mistakes they capitalized on). They just throw people at the problem until they overwhelm it. Their losses in WW2 were STAGGERING. And they just kept throwing people at the problem.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line"!

China was making significant investments in Iranian infrastructure to secure their access to oil. Quite a bit of of their oil purchases is used to support manufacturing of basic materials such as steel, aluminum and plastics to support their export of over $500 bil. in phones and computers (Think Apple, Microsoft and AI) of a total of nearly $400 Trillion in exports. When the cost of oil rises all prices go up. Industrial metals prices are skyrocketing with Tungsten for example is up over 500% over the last year. I think of global recession. It becomes a matter of how bad it will become.

We have essentially demonstrated to Russia, China and North Korea once again that the US is totally unprepared for asymmetrical warfare. If any country ever truly is ready to defend against it. The US and Israel have already expended over 5000 munitions on Iran including over 300 Tomahawks. About five years worth!

Where do we go from here? Has all of this been to take our MAGA's attention off of the Epstein files?

Yes imo

He will get thousands killed and spend billions crushing our economy to keep from going to prison and many others will assist him to avoid the same end.

If any normal regular person was in the Epstein files as much as him who also had dozens and dozens of Sexual assault claims from women and shut some of them down with settlements and constantly said things publicly that indicate their predilections they would have long been investigated, arrested, and put on trial.
