Supreme Court allows Lisa Cook to remain on Fed board for now

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook can remain in her job for now and announced it will take up a case over President Donald Trump’s attempt to remove her.

The court will hear arguments in the case in January, and its temporary ruling will last at least until then. Lower courts allowed Cook to keep her position. The Trump administration had asked the high court to overturn that decision and remove Cook immediately.

Really? Is that because they’re mostly silent? I haven’t noticed our conservative friends actively criticizing Trump, but I might have missed those posts.

I would qualify as conservative in the Barry Goldwater-William F. Buckley-Edmund Burke-Margaret Thatcher-George H.W.Bush-some of Reagan way.

And what's Trump ACTUALLY "conservative" in?
Even the most devout law and order conservative cringes at the police state "let me assault this, oh, he's a citizen" folks.

I would also hope liberals wouldn't have too much of a problem with the illegal drawing the six-figure salary in (conservative?) Iowa school district. I waited on that because something didn't quite sound like it added up.

Folks would really be amazed at the overlap of most "normal" right and most "normal" left people, but too many want to lie because you only advance with lies in politics.

You’re absolutely right, @selmaborntidefan. I should have thought of you as a conservative, but I was thinking more about those who’ve expressed approval of Trump’s agenda to some noticeable degree in the past. You definitely don’t fall into that category.

I almost universally oppose the Trump agenda. It's not unusual for me because I've been almost universally opposed the agenda of every administration for the last 30+ years. What I find amusing is how much of Trump's agenda is in line with traditional left/Democrat policy. Watching the left contort themselves to oppose trade protectionism is something to see. Ever since I started studying economics I have debated those on the left about the harm caused by protectionism and the benefits of free trade. I've been met for decades with counter-arguments that sound very Trumpian.

Now, have the left suddenly found religion on the benefits of capitalism, free markets, low/no tariffs, etc.? Or are they just anti-Trump without having any knowledge of the subject? We all know the answer to this. Funny how that works.

Did anybody notice how low energy trump sounded and looked again? Not to mention his rambling incoherent speech again.

Trump claimed our newer Navy ships are made of aluminum and they melt when missiles are still two miles away from them:

“Aluminum that melts if it looks at a missile coming at it. It starts melting as the missile is about two miles away.”

At this point, you gotta wonder if Trump is just the distraction that Stephen Miller is using to create his vision of the fatherland.

The White House’s plan to aid Argentina appears to have backfired.

According to a photo of a private text on the phone of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Argentina responded to the treasury secretary’s $20 billion bailout by turning around and removing its export taxes on soybeans and striking a huge new deal with China. That diminished the price of U.S. soybeans and weakened U.S. trade leverage with China, which immediately pulled out of its existing arrangements with soybean farmers in America’s heartland.

The astonishing lack of basic security protocols and the refusal to follow them is just astoudingly dumb.

I have to imagine hackers from China, Russian, and NK are having a field day on us.

If I am a Democrat running for office, I start a messaging campaign to American farmers, that Trump thinks so highly of American farmers that he gave a bailout to Argentinian soybean farmers...

The Center, left or right, is there for the taking by Democrats, but they dont want it...

Trump promises to defend Qatar in wake of Israeli missile strikes
The U.S. is providing a security guarantee akin to NATO’s Article 5.

Quid pro quo. Not a surprise.
I have no basis in fact but have heard rumblings that Israel had access to US satellite and radar feeds in order to plan the attack on Qatar. This move with Qatar may be an attempt to placate the Arabs including Saudi Arabia who are concerned with the Israeli/US growing militancy.

Interested this morning to see Israel bording aid vessels on the high seas and making arrests really without ligitimate charges.
