UGA gameday thread II...

Wow! The team showed heart, athleticism, and better coaching in the second half. Great win!

I hate to say this, but I think Steele is too much of a defensive liability to play for his offense anymore. He isn't giving us his old self on offense, and he's killing the team's rebounding due to protecting him with zone on defense. Don't get me wrong, I think very highly of Steele...but he's wounded, it isn't helping him playing, and - if anything - he's hurting the team.

do you want to rethink that statement?

Ronald Steele rocks!!! I think he got away with a walk, but we've been hosed before. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes not. I hope this is the game that gets it turned around. The way we played in the 2nd half on D is the way we've got to do it all the time. You don't usually walk away with the W when you give up a 50 point half. Roll Tide!!!

How do you call a jump ball? That is one of the worst calls I have ever seen. A) It clearly did not hit the rim before the other player touched it, thus that makes it a pass and B) Even if the refs are too stupid to call a clear shot clock violation, the ball was tipped out of bounds by Georgia.

Even though we won the game the possesion arrow could have really hurt us if the ball somehow got tied up.

One thing we take away from this game is that, until RS's leg improves, we are a ZONE, ZONE, ZONE team. Without the zone, we lose this game. It's easier to cover his lack of mobility with the zone than with the man. On man, we were collapsing and then not getting out. With the 2-3, we stayed out on their gunners. Also, they didn't have the slashers to challenge the zone and we did a pretty good job of shutting down the inside. It'll be harder against the likes of UF...

Tom Lopes was one of the refs. 'Nuff said.

I totally agree.

Personally, I wouldn't rethink his statement. It is great that we won the game, but don't forget that problems still exist.

We gave up a 50 pt. half. Problems like we have do not correct themselves in a half or with a game-winning shot.

I'm glad that we won the game but I am still dissappointed that we never led or even tied the game but at the end (I guess that's the most important time) even when were at home!

They reviewed it after the buzzer and decided no walk. The question is whether or not he dragged his pivot foot before release - after doesn't count. I'm happy, for once, to agree with them...

Great job guys. You know, it's tough trying to watch a game peeking out of one eye..;)

I'll see you guys next Saturday in Tuscaloosa and let's put it on those 'Backs at home.
