This is what I'm hearing. When I find the link I'll post it. I don't know if this is a smart move going against an Ellis Johnson coached defense, but on the flip-side, it's not like Cox is a seasoned vet either, in terms of playing time.

This info is on the UGA Rivals site. Can't post it here, but that's where it is. They're saying that Joe Cox has tendonitis. Good excuse I guess. UGA fans are not happy with Cox right now.

I know that UGA fans are not warm and happy right now, but this is no cause for them to be overjoyed. Cox played last week with a flu hangover against a top-ten team. That's worth a Mulligan. The Yardbirds are going to come in fired up, and this will be tough on Gray.

Tendonitis or not, if Gray lights it up against SC, I guarantee Cox won't get that job back. Apparently, Cox had a dead arm and he's had it since about 3 weeks before the season. His arm-strength DEFINITELY looked underwhelming against OK. St., although his accuracy at times was stellar. And many UGA fans feel like Gray is a lot more mobile than Cox.

Best case scenario for UGA fans is that they're looking at a Tom Brady/Drew Bledsoe type situation. Worst case....Alabama 2004.

Logan Gray will turn out to be a very good QB. I am sure he will struggle greatly at times, but with the situation with Cox I feel that in the long run Georgia will be better off.

I'm very interested to see how this kid does on Saturday. With Richt being an OC/QB coach at FSU, I'm a little suprised they don't have a more servicable replacement for Stafford.

I know there is a lot of love for Georgia on this board. I don't know why. I think Richt better get it together cause his football team looked pretty average against Oklahoma St.

If all he's got is one linebacker and a safety taking shots at people's heads he might lose considerably more than he is used to losing.

Being favored by 7 is mostly about the home field I guess. I don't see an advantage over S. Carolina much of anywhere else.

Richt is really feeling the heat here among some fans. I think they have finally recognized that he's most likely a good coach who can win 9-10 games a year. The fan-base is starved for a National Championship and some of them are tired of waiting for one.

From what i am reading many of the UGA fans are happy that Cox is out. They think he is not an SEC quality QB and are ready to try somebody else and take their lumps this year.
Dont know if true or not but the official line seems to be he has an arm problem.
Should be interesting.

I hope your not referring to the play where the Georgia safety just leveled the Ok St. receiver because that was a perfectly legitimate pass break up. I don't know how else he could have hit the guy than the way he did. Even the commentators were saying go play flag football if they are going to throw a flag on that.

x2

It's kinda off-topic, but I've seen and heard a lot of people talking about that hit and how it was unnecessary and dirty and all that. I have a feeling a lot of those people have never actually seen the play.

I guess the UGA safety should have just tapped the OSU WR on the shoulder and asked him nicely to drop that pass that he was batting around in the air.

I think the QB change will be better for UGA in the long run. Cox just doesn't look like he has what it takes to get the job done.

Geeze...Now former UGA player and current ATL area radio personality David Pollack is saying that Cox is still the man. From his Twitter page:

@davidpollack47: Talked to a few folks and the Cox injury appears to be false. Joe will be the guy from what I have heard. More Later
Hard to believe anything at this point and I guess we'll just have to wait until Saturday to see. My advice to any of you wagerers, avoid this game like the plague.
