Lol, so the writer, or his "source," was standing in RR's livingroom at 12:30am reporting everything RR said and thought?

This is my repost from another thread:

“Where do they get this stuff,’’ Rodriguez wondered, his voice sounding both bewildered and exhausted after a long day of travel.

It's still not a denial. Its more as if he's saying "how did this info get leaked?"

And how did a reporter talk to him after he was at home and his wife was already in bed? I guess RR turns on espn while letting reporters in his house after midnight? Something is odd about this article.

Classic - "I just walked in the door and Rita’s in bed,’’ Rodriguez said. “And I plan on being there very soon.’’

Rodriguez hasn’t even visited the Alabama campus, which those close to him insist he would do at least once before committing to any move.

Hours away .

I would think that a college head football coach would not watch sportscenter or read about themselves in the paper. Dont they tell players to not watch that crap? Its only good for messing with your head. I seriously doubt he just had to watch a little sportscenter and talk to a reporter after a long plane flight and getting home after midnight.

I don't really see the humor in that article. They clearly talked to him tonight so I would say it is the most accurate so far because they have quotes from Rodriguez unlike all the others. No paper except those whom Jason Blair works for makes up quotes. While I think he will be the coach, I wouldn't bet my life on it yet. Especially after that.

The key words to focus on in that article are "Rodriguez said". You guys can dog that newspaper but they talked to him. The Birmingham News hasn't. The Tuscaloosa News hasn't. Tidefans hasn't. Now, would he tell that guy "yeah I've taken it."? Of course not. But that is a VERY legitamate article.

Everyone is citing the Bham news so either they are going to look like they broke a story or they are going to have egg in thy face.

The only thing working for this story is that it is so poorly written, it seems like no journalist would ever have made it up. Then again, it could be just a lying idiot that wrote it.

This is espn's latest update:

The University of Alabama appeared to move much closer to hiring West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez on Thursday night.

While day-long negotiations in Tuscaloosa between the two sides did not conclude with an agreement in writing, representatives of both sides said that the university will deliver a contract to Rodriguez on Friday morning.
I know the article has been linked a least 10 times tonight, but it was updated a few minutes ago

The only way the post gazette could've gotten these quotes is to have followed CRR home from the airport, camped out on his lawn and then knocked on the door.

CRR probably didn't flip on sportscenter, but was responding to a PG reporter's question about reports the reporter had seen on ESPN.

My gut tells me the reports of an agreement in principle are accurate, but CRR doesn't want it to become official until after he has had a chance to address his team. My thoughts are that UWV officials already know he is taking the job.

As for the campus visit, CRR recruits Alabama pretty heavily. He was also at Tulane for a few years. A quick Internet check of Crimson Tradition will tell you all you need to know about the new facilities and expanded BDS.

In short, CRR doesn't have to visit Bama to know its a mecca of college football. Believe me, he knows.

Or that reporter has a relationship with him. Rodriguez says "hey yeah i'll talk on the record but you aren't going to get much, I'll call you at the end of the day." The quotes were NOT made up. As a fellow journalist I can tell you that did not happen.
