I have a lot of CD's but still have an appreciation for vinyl. Has anyone used wood glue to clean them? I haven't done this but I'm tempted to give it a try.

Interesting, let us know if you try it. I'm guessing that the dried glue disk could then be played to listen to the record backwards.

Ok I'm dragging this one to the surface. This past weekend I went to the local flea market and bought a couple of vinyl classics from the 80's. For a total of $3 I got Boston "Third Stage" and 38 Special "Tour De Force." The covers are in VG+ condition and the vinyl didn't look too bad. Just really dusty and lots of fingerprints. So I get them home and clean them with solution and microfiber cloth. Well that got the dust and fingerprints off but I could still see a lot "spots" on the vinyl. Neither album was enjoyable. Both had lots of noise and skipped several times. The 38 Special record was a disaster!
So I attempt this wood glue cleaning for the first time. It was a success! I was amazed at how clean it got the records. I won't say they have been restored to "like new" condition. But they are now playable and enjoyable. There's no more skipping and the noise isn't nearly as bad. Just an occasional crackle or pop.
So if you still have an appreciation for vinyl, and have some that perhaps don't play as well as they used to, maybe you should give this a try. I'm pleased with the result I got.

I've seen demonstrations of this cleaning method, so I'm sure it works just fine. Otoh, it can't be a very time and cost efficient method.
That's true. But I'm not gonna clean all my records this way because they don't need it. I just thought I'd try it on the two I bought at the flea market. I've actually had good luck buying LP's from this flea market. But these two needed surgery!

Also, I did NOT apply the glue while the record was on my vintage Pioneer table. I used a cheap turntable that I have.
