We need a QB too

Brodie hasn't exactly been all that...For Bama not to grab a blue chip QB was a mistake....he isn't strong physically and he hasn't reached 300yds passing like all other QB's will do at few times a year..but we need to get Manson...I can't see how a guy would leave his hometown of crimson only to go fade off at another school....where is Caldwell or whatever his name is...at Florida.

FloridaBamaFan: Brodie is a good QB and has shown signs of brilliance when he was being protected. This season he played with a porous line and a seperated shoulder and still played well IMHO.

Where have you been? We tried to get Brian Brohm, we were in his final 6, and then faded before he began taking official visits, he never visited the Capstone.

John Parker Wilson is considered by most as a top 20-25 QB recruit, so it isn't like we let the QB position void of a commitment.

I too hope we get Manson, but all is not lost if we don't. This is a great class regardless with Kenneth Darby (rated a top 15 back out of highschool), Ray Hudson (Mr. Florida his Junior year of HS) and Tim Castille (Rated #2 FULLBACK) his senior year of HS. And for those who argue Castille is a true halfback why would Tom Lemming have project him as a FB coming out of highschool? Let the guru's do the math on these things.

Don't forget that we already have that Guillen kid that transfered in from MIAMA. ENough of this BC bashing. That kid is tougher than a $2 steak. He will lead us to the promise land we just got to follow.

It is what I have been getting grief for the whole recruiting time. This ratings/bluechippers don't mean a thing and Does anybody remember Robert Davis ( LSU to UAB Nothing ) Brodie is a good QB that needs protection and WR's.

Some of those bluechippers were playing against sub-par players in highschool and some were 2A or 3A players. There is a big difference in SEC players. I have heard bluechip WR's make the statement the he had NEVER seen DB's accelerate that fast to the ball. That statement also has come from QB's and we don't really need a QB. Our second team QB will probably Marc Guillion and then M.Machen

Brodie Croyle is a serviceable QB that can be replaced. He hasnt done anything consistently enough to know whether he will get better or not, a couple of great throws here and there does not a QB make. I think the QB pos. should be wide open and if he wins Ill be glad that hes in, if not OH WELL. Before you go blaming the OL there is a certain amountof time you get to throw and a lot of times BC simply held the ball too long, and when someone was open he would throw a Brett Favre pass to college wrs. If you watch college football which I know you do you will see QBs younger than BC and a lot lower rated play a lot better Matt Leinart(USC), Chris Ball(Gtech), just to name a few and remember BC by all the "experts" was either #1or #2 in the country. Im not downing BC but he needs to start living up to his press clippings.

I'm not bashing Brodie...I'm just saying...he's had plenty of time to rise above the crowd whether your winning or not...and I haven't seen it yet...He isn't physically strong enough to run and pick up key..key 1st downs. Tyler was strong enough to do that. There is no reason in the world why we shouldn't start out at 6-0 this upcoming season...if we have 1-2 loses....it's on Brodies shoulders....pull him. Darby will be an exciting go to guy along with Castille....but Manson would be another great player to have on board..
Shula and crew are doing a great job....just make sure next year, we have a all world PK. on FULL scholarship

Matt Leinart( USC ) throws 5 to 10 yard passes.I don't watch anything but college football and post on the board about the speed and hands that the WR's that we have coming in have... We will see if the awesome WR's can catch a bullet and I do agree that BC needs to learn some touch, but people forget 1)2 new coaches.. 2) 2 new playbooks 3)learning the toughest position on the field and Coach Shula will be there thru the spring and up... Most Bama fans expect Bama to be USC, LSU, Michagan etc... I think that those teams have had coaches in place longer than the Tide has.. but I don't keep up with those teams except LSU.. Brodie will be our starting QB next year and I no CMS will work on his touch and the team as a whole will be better. I couldn't figure out if your burning BC or college WR's..

Im not "burning" anyone. Im just saying that I think we had avg. rcvrs and BC was trying to throw bazookas(by the way there arent a lot of people that could have caught those passes). BTW if he was so injured how did he throw so hard? I dont think a new system is that big a deal its just the terminology, a post is still a post, a five-and-out is still a five-and-out, throw it to the open man, WHILE he's OPEN!!! All Im saying is that the position should be open and may the best man win at QB, or any other position.

My bet is on Guillon as far as talent. Now Brodie has the connections and the name, with his father being an ex Bama player. But I grew up real close to Brodie and all the high schools knew if you could pressure him he would rattle. And if you could lay some hits on him he would rattle. He played at a 1-A High School also. One other thing also is he used that cannon arm to just chunk the ball way down the field and Greer would go get it. That was Brodie's JR. year. His senior year he got hurt early and didn't play much at all. But I do agree he did show signs of maturing and possibly being pretty good, but not enough. Don't get me wrong either I will stand behind whichever one CMS thinks is the man. I just have high hopes of seeing just what Guillon can do, considering last years performance.

ROLL TIDE 4 LIFE! IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the biggest problems with Brodie and the Bama offense last year was the brand new offense and not being able to audible out of bad plays. You add that to a less than stellar OL, only able to run a select few plays due to playing with a separated shoulder and debatably the toughest schedule in the nation Brodie did pretty doggone well last year. I have faith that Coach Shula and Coach Radar will play the QB that gives Bama the best chance to win but the smell is in the air of another controversy, and spring practice hasn't even started yet. If Brodie starts, the first bad play will bring out the controversy lovers. JMHO

M.C.Bama: Oh he had surgery for the fun of it and we did have 2 0r 3 WR's that could catch those passes and did catch them.. Oh Yeah, I forgot how easy playing in the SEC is... You must not no much about football or you and I would be playing its not that big a deal. Thats why this board has had a million hits talking about who we need to get and who is better than who..
So your saying we really don't need to worry about terminology and we can win with what did you say... 3 plays

Just to make it clear, Brodie was the #2 prospect (all positions) in the entire nation by ESPN. FSU wanted him badly but he stayed with Tide. I still remember how much controversy there was floating around about the death threat letters...etc.

Brodie probably could have played better if the O-line had not given up half way through the season.

I tell you one thing, if I were a backup QB right now, I'd be working my *** off this offseason b/c whoever who can lead this team down the field will be the starter next year. I hope Thrash can come in and show the coaches something immediately.

First of all I dont know about you but I did play and I was pretty good I can go into the archives and let you read my "press clippings". And if you are worried about playing in the SEC then guess what If you cant take the heat get outta the kitchen. I never said you could win with three plays I said nothing changes but the terminology (let me clarify) pass patterns are still the same no matter what name you use to describe them. This was a kid that all people talked about was that he "could make all the throws". I want nothing more than for BC to be one of the best QBs we've ever had but at this point I think he has a ways to go. I dont really want his job to be taken I just want him to step up and lead this team to the promise land like I think he has the talent to do.

Pass patterns are still the same, yes, but the whole play package is different. Learning the terminology is one thing, but understanding the play and knowing all the routes of the recievers based off the new playbook is another. As a QB, when the ball is snapped he's got to know where to throw the ball. He's got to know where the recievers are without looking. To make the matters worse, our playbook was heavily limited because of the lack of practices to put all the plays together. Anyone with a basic knowledge of football would know that our offense was vanilla at best. The opposing D coordinator would have an easy time formulating the defensive strategy against our offense, because truthly we did not give them that many different looks in formation wise. How many times did Brodie throw the ball to his check down reciever? Despite of all that, we still played great. I truely believe that Brodie will be successful when the whole offense is installed. You can bank on that.

Does Brody have a little ways to go? Yes. Good thing he was only a soph. last year.

Anyone else believe that it is hard to pass for 300 yards when your favorite play is HB Tackle?

Also remember how many times did brodie put the ball on the money and someone barely stepped out of bounds? Big time rec. make those catches. Give BC some time when he is not needing surgery, and let him play. Jesus, I can't even play with a sprained ankle much less a seperated shoulder!! And then let 6 feet 6inch monsters fall on it.

In closing it is not BC but Radar. Not a big fan of his offense calling. Even with no spring practice, you should be able to move it on Hawaii.
