We will beat LSU

As I look at LSU and their offense and the way the team as a whole has played this year, it's difficult to think that Bama might actually lose this game. Look at how LSU's offense has faired in regulation this season vs. decent teams...

15 vs. Oregon State
9 vs. Auburn
16 vs. Georgia
24 vs. Florida
24 vs. Troy
24 vs. Vanderbilt

They struggled to get past the 20 point barrier against very weak defenses in FL, Vandy, and Troy, even though Troy is fairly decent. Looking at those numbers and the way LSU has turned the ball over this season and their FG kicking problems, why would there be any reason to believe that this offense can actually score more than a touchdown against our defense? Of course, our offense isn't exactly blowing people away at the moment, but our offensive line is playing eons better than their's right now and their best offensive lineman is OUT for this game. I don't want to say we will shut LSU out on Saturday, but looking at the way this series has gone and the way these teams have played this year, things are shaping up for another surprising Bama win in Baton Rouge, maybe by a large margin. RTR!!!

And don't forget

We win most of the time when we play down there anyway.

Like another said, I like your optimism...but,.LSU is a good team, unlike the Western Carolinas, Miss. States, and Utah States that we have played and beaten up to this point.
Every Alabama coach, in recent memory, has been able to win in Baton Rouge. Can Coach Shula do the same? We will find out saturday....

It's gonna be a dogfight. If they can just disregard our passing game and gang up on KD, it'll be a long night. Spencer's gonna have to step up.

good post, but I agree it's going to be a dog fight. The game will hinge on KD and the O-line. KD will probably have to have about 30 carries again. This means McClain is going to have to have a big game and Johns is going to have to be ready in relief; KD needs a rest every now and then

While I agree that the O-Line and Darby are important, I think the true key will be turnovers and special teams. LSU and Bama match up very well with each other. I think we can beat 'em!!!

I'm not worried about LSU's offense. I'm pretty confident that our D will stop LSU. I'm worried about our offense against their defense. If we can't run the ball against them, then we're in trouble.

I think we'll beat LSU fairly easily. I'm happy to see ESPN carry the game too. I've been waiting all season for an Alabama game to be shown in HD. Now I'll get to watch the game in crystal clear clarity on ESPNHD!

Bama seems to turn it up a notch when playing in primetime on ESPN. If SP can keep from throwing too many INT's and Darby can get 100 yards rushing, then I don't think LSU stands a chance.

Well said man, I agree we should be able to take down LSU rather easily, escpically the way Darby was running last week.

I think we will be able to move the ball on them and Darby will have a solid game; but LSU's defense is much better than MSU's. LSU is ranked #4 nationally, though like us, they are much stronger against the pass.

We're gonna need some breaks...

Like a key turnover or two, deep in LSU territory.

We're also gonna need Spencer to crank it up a notch over his effort against MSU. He's improving, but he's got to keep the forward momentum going this week.

I have complete confidence in our defense, providing we're scoring points and taking time off the clock.

LSU's defense is not the swarming, physical bunch they were last year. But they're still very good and probably the best defense we'll have seen all year. How Bama's offense performs against LSU's defense will give a good indication of how we'll do against the Barners a week later. Those two defenses are about equal.

Personally, I hope it doesn't come down to it, but the 1998 win down there was magical. We weren't supposed to win that one...

I feel better about this game just reading the board. We need a big game like this, and despite the nagging injuries I think we can win. The team has showed us alot of heart on the field, now we need to see it on the scoreboard. If Georgia beats Auburn up a little and we can find a way to win at LSU the Iron Bowl will look very promising indeed.

Roll Tide!

I said it before the year and I was laughed at.

I will say it again

WE WILL BEAT LSU AT THEIR OWN PLACE

It won't shock the world either as our defense has proven to be the best in the country.

hmmm...

I know a lot is made about how LSU owns us in Tuscaloosa, but we REAAAAAALLY own them in Baton Rouge...those numbers are just sick. It could be argued that LSU has never defeated a decent Alabama football team in Baton Rouge. And I'd say this year's Alabama Crimson Tide team qualifies as being 'good,' especially with THIS defense.

Bama 19 LSU 0
