My wife and I had a very enjoyable trip to the regionals. We saw some good ballgames, met some wonderful aggie fans, saw some very outstanding baseball facilities. Got to meet a very baseball knowledgeable CSAgFan and a nice guy. He invited us to have Mimosas and Tamales for breakfast with him and his tailgaiting crew, but, we politely declined, because just can't take Tamales for breakfast. We saw some very good fan support for the aggies. The student cheering section in the stadium was very well organized and was a good portion of the aggie fans. Even though school was out, they were there to support their team. They did some good-natured heckling of BAMA, but never made it personal to the team or fans. As a matter of fact, they were very gracious to the BAMA fans, and even wished us luck against Houston; and there were numerous Aggie fans sitting with BAMA fans during the BAMA/Houston game, trying to teach us some heckling to bring home with us. Can't wait till next year to try some of them out. And, this is especially for CSAgFan, the next time a train comes through Tuscaloosa past the coliseum, it will be interesting to see how many people remember to guess the number of engines. RTR. P.S. CSAgFan we really couldn't believe the outcome of ya'lls game with Houston. Never would have believed Houston would beat you twice. Sorry, we really were pulling for you.

Bama FANatic,

It was a great pleasure meeting you two!! I enjoyed talking baseball with you guys, and especially just shooting the breeze about life and Bama sports in general. Like I said earlier, you guys and the Bama fans were nothing but great, knowledgeable fans and I wish you guys the best of luck in the future!! I hope you took a lot of good memories home to Tuscaloosa, and I look forward to hearing from you guys in the future!!!! I'll keep in touch...

Gig'em and Roll Tide Roll!!!

There are two stories from where it originated, but I believe the real one was waaay back in the early 1900s when we were about to play TCU.... One of the cadets told the Aggies to go out and "gig" the horned frogs from TCU.... it stuck from there!!

I think the game CS is referring to is the 1939 game against TCU. They had won the MNC in 1938 and were mowing down opponents in 1939 as well. We were undefeated at that time, but everyone feared the Frogs. A cadet told the team to gig the frogs, and we won the game, a win that propelled us to the 1939 national title.

Another possible explanation is the use of the word gig in military circles as a demerit, or a flaw. Given the military history of A&M, I wouldn't think it unusual for an inspecting officer to look to "gig em", or find flaws in whatever he was inspecting.

I've also heard that story about your "gig line" where the buttons down your shirt line up with your zipper. Supposedly a cadet (Pinky Downs maybe, that name just seems right) would tell cadets to Gig 'em when their gig line was not straight...I personally think the TCU story makes the most sense though. BamaFanatic I'm glad that you had a good time in college station. I think yall will find that the majority of ags are good people, much like the majority of bama fans. I was really bored yesterday and resorted to watching cheerleader competition on espn

I rooted for bama who got third nationally. (thought i'd throw that in there)
