Empires of the Steppes: A History of the Nomadic Tribes Who Shaped Civilization by Kenneth W. Harl
You might enjoy the Fall of Civilizations podcast about Genghis Khan. I've gotten maybe 2 hrs in. I also have Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford, but haven't read it yet.

I'm not familiar with that podcast but it sounds like something I would really enjoy. I'll put it on my to-do list.

I read the Weatherford book a few years ago and will soon read it again since I’m currently on a Central Asian history kick.

Any thoughts on John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War series?

It’s been recommended to me, and the premise sounds fascinating. But science fiction isn’t usually my thing.

So I’m on the fence and would appreciate any opinions.

I have not read from this author. But, after a quick review, his works sounds interesting. If you do dive in, let me know how you like it and I may follow suit. :)
