What do these events mean for the bowl game?

I think that the prudent thing to do for MM and the AD is to decline a bowl bid. IF we get one (that is looking like a bigger "if" day by day). We should let the rebuilding begin -- ASAP.

I would not be opposed to Coach Shula coaching the bowl game if it was even his desire to do so and if the new coach has no problem with it. Might be a proper way to let him say goodbye, see Larry Coker at Miami.

ZSIM - We will get a bowl bid since two SEC teams are going to BCS games.(Even if just 1 goes we would get an at large bid in San Fran or Charlotte) Personally, I don't think Shula, or the players, or the fan base has any interest in seeing him coach another game albeit for different reasons. The extra practice time would be good and be a sort of evaluation period for our new coach. There are of course some problems with accepting a bowl bid. A few weeks is not long enough to hire assistants and teach a new system to the team not to mention players will be craming for exams. So we would be forced to use the same schemes and let the coaches learn it. This is of course assuming our coach brings the majority of his staff with him. If just the HC comes then we might possibly stick with the remainder of our staff for the bowl game. Give the new guy a chance to evaluate the faculty and see if there is any one he would like to work with. We should only go bowling if everything is in place and not rush into a bad situation like we have for the last decade....

If we get offered a bowl berth we should take it no matter what. It's a reward for the seniors (oh yeah, the players, remember them?) After committing to Alabama during uncertain times and going through everything imaginable during their careers they deserve the opportunity to suit up one more time and play for the Tide. It's not the players fault that the administration of the program has been in turmoil -- if Bama gets a bid we all need to get behind the team and support them en mass. The new coaching staff most likely won't assume the reins until after bowl season anyway. If they are around, (even though they won't be coaching) it's another chance for them to evaluate the returning players.

Also, let's not forget about the huge amount of money that even a bottom of the barrel bid would bring in. We need the dough, so I say let's go! There is virtually no downside to playing in a bowl.

I agree, if offered we should definately accept a bowl bid. With all the turmoil these seniors have been through, they definately deserve it.:BigA:

I think if we are invited to an SEC tie-in bowl, we will definitely go and Coach Kines would probably coach the game as our interim. If there is an invite to a bowl not tied to the SEC, I think it would depend on how quickly we can get a new coach in here whether or not we accept the bowl bid. If the new coach can come in immediately, I could see us turn down the bid and begin work with the new staff. If the coach can't start until after the beginning of the year, then we'll probably accept the bid.

Nah...haven't you been paying attention this season? It's all about the fans & our *cough* pride & commitment & expertise. It stopped being about the players early this year. After all, we the fans are the ones who have really paid the price made the commitment & all.
