What SEC and national head coaches are on the "Hot Seat" this year?

Another season like 2005 and Foolmer's seat will start getting mighty hot. Same with Larry Coker at Miami, that drilling by LSU really turned up the heat on him. I'd say that Lloyd Carr is about to wear out the patience of the powers-that-be in Michigan. He's really wasted a lot of great talent up there.

CMS if he does not get the OL fixed this season.

Barner!!!! Where in the world have you been? Shula just got a huge raise and contract extension. If you are a Bama fan you need your posting priviledges yanked....

so you think that a contract extension to 2012 means that he wouldn't be fired before 2012, regardless of his production? Surely you aren't implying that.........

While Bamafarmer's comments may not be the most positive comments on this thread, don't fool yourself. Two more years of losing to Auburn and/or LSU won't guarantee CMS a job.

The question asked was the coaches on the hot seat this year, not in 2 years. By that standard all coaches would be on the hot seat. Highly unlikely but if a high profile coach such as Weiss, Brown from Texas or Pete Carroll was to do badlt this season that could be on the hot seat in 2 years.

I don't know why I even responded to the previous post because CMS could win a NC and someone who proclaims to be a fan would still complain about something that could have been done better by CMS.

Phattamus 'no I am not' Full' mer- Tennessee: another losing season and the school that Crest forgot will begin whislting through their tooth for something else.
Houston Nutt- Arkansas: He should have taken the Nebraska job
Urban Meyer- Florida: FireUrbanMeyer.com gets one million hits as the Gators have another 8-4 season.
Croom- Mississippi ST: The first African American coach to be hired and fired in the SEC.
Orgeron- Ole Miss: The Rebs have spent too much good money on incoming players to have another losing season.

In the SEC, I think it is Fulmer and Croom. I don't necessarily think Nutt is on the "hot seat." I think they'll give him a year or two with

As for Shula, if his seat even warms up, it'll happen after the '07 campaign, IMO. No worries for Shula today or after '06 (although a win over the Barn would do him a lot of good, fan wise). O-line still young and learning.

Nationally, I think Dennis the Manzier's seat is getting pretty hot.

In the conference it may be Croom. He talked a lot coming in, my friend who is an alum bought into it, thinks it saved them from harsher NCAA penalties (I agree) and expected some good wins last year and to be competitive in the West next year. I don't think that's going to happen. That plus the discipline problems.... The awkward situation for Miss State is what gets said when they have to fire the first black head coach, blah, blah, blah.

The toothless ones were unhappy last year, but Fatso knows way too much to just be shown the door. That said, I think he's getting a little tired of it. One more big off season discipline problem and he may be ready to leave.

I would put Meyer on the list, except I think his team does better this year, at least until that goofy offense gets one or two of his qbs killed.

In the SEC, Fulmer (another losing year he stills get 1 more) Croom (same as Fulmer), Nutt (unless he goes 9-3 or 10-2 he's gone) Brooks (don't understand why he wasn't fired after last season). Nationally the coaches I see on the hot seat: Tommy Bowden, Chan Gailey, Larry Coker, John Buntin, Dennis Franchione, Gary Pinckel, Bill Callahan, Karl Dorran(?)UCLA, Mike Stoops, Lloyd Carr, John L. Smith.

A lot of the guys that I see listed on "the hot seat" are only there because fans stink. Anyone who understands coaching also understands that coaches are only as good as the talent on the field, and even that is further effected by injuries.

Most of the coaches on these lists are very, very good at their job. When they are fired (with some exceptions - like Fran), their schools will be the worse for it...

I agree, nationally Fran is on the hottest seat. He's in BIG trouble over there.
In the SEC its gotta be Brooks and Nutt. Everyone else still has a year or two to shape up.

Nutt because hes been on extended life support for what seems a decade now. He and jug ears have a lot in common where they both rely on using emotion to coach up their teams. Sooner or later the gas runs out on that philosophy.
