Now that I think back Shaun may have been a 5 or 6 star. I do remember being surprised and very happy he signed with Bama though. I still remember his first game against LSU what a coming out party that was.
Shaun Alexander, who holds the Kentucky high school record for points in a season (326 in 1994), has a shot at eclipsing the NFL single-season scoring record held by another Kentuckian. Paul Hornung, who played high school ball at Louisville Flaget, set the NFL record for points with 176 for the Green Bay Packers in 1960. Hornung had 15 touchdowns, 15 field goals and 41 extra points. Alexander has 24 TDs this year, giving him a league-leading 144 points, within range of the record.
He has the 27th most yards rushing in season (3,000 or more yards) in HS history. One yard behind Herschel Walker's best season.

Player Spotlight: Shaun Alexander
Reluctant hero or not, life had big plans for the laid-back Alexander, whose 3,166-yard, 54-touchdown senior season remains the stuff of legend at Boone County High. The one-time Gatorade Circle of Champions Kentucky Player of the Year and former USA Today and Parade All-American still ranks fifth and ninth, respectively, on the national high school career-records list with a storied 110 touchdowns and 6,657 yards.
Alexander, who has rushed for more than 7,000 yards in the last five seasons, leads the NFL with 1,688 yards and 24 touchdowns on 329 carries. He is three touchdowns shy of the league single-season record set by Chiefs running back Priest Holmes in 2003.
Alexander was the second-leading vote-getter in Pro Bowl balloting league-wide behind Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
