For someone that may know or can provide me with a website that list the rankings prior to 2002. I didn't follow recruiting too much when I was a sophomore in HS when he was being recruited. All I knew was I was originally from Northport and a huge Bama fan and Bama was recruiting him.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, he was one of the best RBs in the country. I don't remember his exact ranking but he was at least 4 stars. I remember being surprised when he committed to Bama.

I may be wrong, but I believe he was the Sports Illustrated National High School Player of the Year. He was definitely VERY highly regarded in recruiting circles.

Thanks for the info. I was suprised as well when he put on the Alabama hat on a local television station here in Florence. I for sure though it would be ND with his brother going there.

Merry Christmas!! Roll Tide!

;) Now that I think back Shaun may have been a 5 or 6 star. I do remember being surprised and very happy he signed with Bama though. I still remember his first game against LSU what a coming out party that was.

Shaun Alexander, who holds the Kentucky high school record for points in a season (326 in 1994), has a shot at eclipsing the NFL single-season scoring record held by another Kentuckian. Paul Hornung, who played high school ball at Louisville Flaget, set the NFL record for points with 176 for the Green Bay Packers in 1960. Hornung had 15 touchdowns, 15 field goals and 41 extra points. Alexander has 24 TDs this year, giving him a league-leading 144 points, within range of the record.

He has the 27th most yards rushing in season (3,000 or more yards) in HS history. One yard behind Herschel Walker's best season.

3,167 Herschel Walker
(Wrightsville Johnson County, GA), 1979
3,166 Shaun Alexander
(Florence Boone County, KY), 1994

Player Spotlight: Shaun Alexander
Reluctant hero or not, life had big plans for the laid-back Alexander, whose 3,166-yard, 54-touchdown senior season remains the stuff of legend at Boone County High. The one-time Gatorade Circle of Champions Kentucky Player of the Year and former USA Today and Parade All-American still ranks fifth and ninth, respectively, on the national high school career-records list with a storied 110 touchdowns and 6,657 yards.
Alexander, who has rushed for more than 7,000 yards in the last five seasons, leads the NFL with 1,688 yards and 24 touchdowns on 329 carries. He is three touchdowns shy of the league single-season record set by Chiefs running back Priest Holmes in 2003.

Alexander was the second-leading vote-getter in Pro Bowl balloting league-wide behind Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

This was one of the smallest but one of the most potent classes ever at the University of Alabama. Look at how many went on to start and the percentage that made an NFL club was much higher than average.

Yep S. Alexander was a 5*

This is one for the arguement that * rating do matter! IMO they do not always matter, but summer camps and actual scouting by the staff is usually a better indication of a players potential. Also,it's very hard to measure a players work ethic and heart.I will say this USC always signs a boatload of 4-5* players and do pretty well.

A lot of people doubted/didn't like Shaun's work/practice habits, but he could sure bring it on game day! Always wondered how SA would have fared under CPB?

It's hard to believe he was recruiting 10 years ago! To many of the younger crowd that seems like a lifetime, to me it seems like yesterday. :conf3:
