What's going on with Ryan Williams?

And Wiggins at A&M has probably stayed in contact the entire time
Man this is a slippery slope…I am not saying anything about RW here, just the situation, but how are you supposed to trust a kid enough to put him on the field if he’s talking to other schools? I know that it happens all of the time, but a situation like this where the kid is abundantly talented but there’s clearly something going on…can you put him on the field in clutch time?

Just from what I can see....

He's had some huge drops. He doesnt catch with his hands. And he doesnt look like he blocks well. He also doesnt look like he runs crisp routes.

He absolutely disappeared in Nov

IMG_7983.jpeg

He has 7 recs for 103 yards and 1 TD total for the entire month.

His NIL is est at $1.8 to 2.3 Mil

That’s #3 for CFB WR’s

He’s not ranked in the Top 100 of CFB WRs in any meaningful statistic on the season.

Not Recs, Yards, TD’s or YPC

He ranges from around 20 to 25th in the SEC for WRs in the major categories.

He’s maybe Top 5 in Drops but I can’t find stats for it.

We need to just cut bait and upgrade to 1 if not 2 or more SEC level WRs for the money.

Maybe he improves himself down the line for someone else but currently he’s just flat not an Upper Level SEC caliber WR.

He’s Fast and that’s it.

Lacks concentration and has a Phobia about contact.

He’s not physical enough to get off CB jams in press coverage and is easily re-routed and struggles to break free from hand fighting.

Sometimes he uses his hands to catch but mostly uses his body either from a bad habit or from trying to shell up and protect himself from hits because he’s scared to expose himself laying out to catch the ball.

He dances around trying to avoid contact in traffic and runs sloppy routes as it is whether there is contact at the snap or not.

It’s true that his strengths favor him more at Wideout than Slot but even still in the SEC teams are not going to let him just streak down the sideline anymore.

Until he gets stronger both mentally and physically the only consistent way he’s getting open is being schemed open but even then it’s up to him to catch the ball.

As I’ve said elsewhere if Kiffin or anybody else wants to pay him $3-4 Mil while trying to fix him then I say best of luck to all parties.

We need to move on.

Dunno, it's tough, no doubt. I'm with you on not being critical of RW, and I wasn't trying to accuse Coach Wiggins of anything, just that RW had a relationship with him through his Bama days, and A&M would not bat an eye on the money front

He has played the slot more this year, but that's because we have better options outside, you going to move Horton or Bernard to slot? They are alot better than Williams, I think he has something going on beside some injury, he was pouting on the sidelines the other night and I believe the coaching staff don't have confidence in him right now, we will see Saturday he has had big games against Georgia in the past,if he wants to leave then go

One thing is for certain...we are much better offensively when he is on his game. I look for a rebound this week and some good contribution by him as well as from some other guys on this team. We really need to hit an extra gear to get through the bulldogs and any post season matchups if we are to be successful.

Judging from what I've seen with my own two eyes and reading the comments I think r. williams would be better suited and better served being a ballarina than a football player, may be an example of coach Sabans saying ,you either get on the bus or you get run over by it , right now he's looking like road kill. If he goes, no biggie, we save money.

If the problem is with him, he won’t be any better if he goes elsewhere and will be someone else’s problem. If he goes somewhere else and shines then we’re probably looking at coaching malpractice. Wouldn’t be the first time. I refer you to Jahmyr Gibbs.

It’s a business. He’s going to look out for what’s best for him. With the coaching carousel underway, I’d bet the farm he’s not the only one inquiring about a better deal, both financially and utilization wise.

Last time we saw him he was dropping another TD pass in the EZ against EIU.

If he can't handle that can he handle the barn or Georgia or a playoff team?

This may be the worst version of a sophomore slump I've ever seen.

And, no it would not surprise me to see him transfer.
What he needs to do is get with Slim Reaper this summer and ball his butt off with technique drills....
