When I first read this I was tempted to call it "borderline rediculous." "Borderline" was being to nice.

Mulga, you may be new to this forum, new to forums in general...I don't know. But, it's one of those wierd communication/etique things. All Caps is the Internet version of shouting.

Blake, what amazes me is how quickly you jump on Mulga and you are less than a two weeks away from stating we were one of the worst number two teams in the nation.

We are.. we are the worst 2nd ranked team in the history of college basketball. Thats as of now..we got ALOT of room for improvement. Until we can start shooting the ball, we are going to struggle.

I don't think we're the second best basketball team in the country right now either. Am I glad we're ranked 2nd, sure, but we need a good bit of tweaking, before we'll actually be the 2nd best team. Right now we're winning by playing defense, not because we're taking, or making good shots, and our ball handling could certainly stand some improvement. I think we have the ability to be the 2nd or even the best team, but we're not playing like it now.

FG%'s, any coach will tell you, come in streaks. Our's will come in time. The players are tearing it up in practice, but haven't been able to in a game. It will come in time.

When you add things like Christmas break, the exams, plus Winston and Williams not playing you'll get an undertanding of some of the lack of productivity. Right now, we are hurting b/c of lack of depth. With Jan., and the addtion of those two...we'll see a difference.

Now that's some fine hyperbole. I don't agree with the assessment, but I'd like to know who you think we beat out for that distinction, which team was the worst in history until this Bama team came along?

While I make no claim to the encylopedic knowledge you claim, I do recall last month. Back then Kansas was #2 on the strength of its wins over Holy Cross and NC Green--before losing back to back games the next week and has since lost a third game.

Seems to me you're pretending to have knowledge you don't possess. I wouldn't mind if you weren't slamming the team I support and the only projected top five team this week to have beaten another of the projected top five (Oklahoma).

If your knowledge of basketball rankings doesn't go as far back as last month, perhaps it would be better if you didn't feign knowledge of the "history of basketball."

Its a moot point b/c we all know we will be tested plenty this year. We didnt win the SEC by some fluke last year we dominated the league. Although I thought the SEC was down in 2001, now I think it is back up again with Georgia, LSU, and Mississipi State being much improved this year to go along with Kentucky and Florida. We'll find out how good we are in the beginning of 2003.

Also, Cliff Ellis is gone after this season

Our band is #1?? I am impressed, but must admit that is news to me. Exactly who or what ranked them #1? I love our band, but I can think of several that I enjoy more than the MDB for ranking purposes.

As for basketball, I believe preseason attendence has just about doubled since last season, so someone must be supporting the team. I expect the SEC games will be sold out for most of the season.

Thanks for your assesment of "the worst #2 team in the history of college basketball". I always enjoy hearing the opinions of the less intelligent observers, you inparticular. Those of us more educated fans will give you low scores for originality because we've heard these same simple-minded claims before.

In 1992, Bama was the "worst" undefeated football team in the nation right up until we waxed #1 Miami in the Sugar Bowl. I'll never forget driving back from New Orleans and spotting a car with "13-0 and we STILL haven't played anybody!" painted on the windshield. Obviously a jab at the ignorant among us such as yourself.
