Question: What's your interest level in college football right now?

I'm Bama thru and thru, but since NIL I've lost a lot of interest.

I forgot to add the fact that players don't like doing the difficult things anymore. A lot of them, not all.

When things get tough, they transfer.

When things aren't tough, they don't grow....as a man or a football player.

It doesnt just hurt the product on the field. It hurts the young mens' lives as well.

Saban always said a kids level of success is greatly diminished every time he transfers. He had it down to an exact percentage I cant remember.

TJ Finley is back in the portal. I don’t even care to know how he still has eligibility.

Didn’t watch any of the playoffs last year

I was such a diehard, I joined the Million Dollar Band (99-04). I watched live religiously through '18 or so and YoutubeTV coming to town. Then I could see on the timeline just how many commercials and how long they were. Then, I started waiting an hour AFTER kickoff to watch, skipping the commercials and halftime coverage. Now? I still care. I distract myself from looking up the score until the game ends. If we win, I go back and watch the recording, but in turbo mode. At the end of each play, fast forward 30s, watch the play, repeat. If we lose, I probably won't even look at the game. I'll watch other teams, but only after probably 9:30pm central...maybe an hour or so. Then, I'll browse the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly thread to see what people thought of the game. Otherwise, I largely just lurk

I watch every Bama game, but outside of that i just look at scores and a occasional highlight. Might watch some when i lay in bed at night but thats about it.

Football as a whole has suffered tremendously from lack of player development.
No sitting on the bench learning and getting acclimated. Transfer if they aint getting playing time.
Not many staying on till senior year. That makes an impact.
Look at the state of the NFL. 15 years ago you had 10 plus teams with stellar Oline play and QBs.
Now, Honestly theres like 4. And half your starting QBs are on IR because the Olines are HORRIBLE now.
Look at my Bengals. ( God i know, i wish i never started rooting for them)
Generational talent at QB and he looks like he has one foot out into retirement because of, you guess it Oline.

My prediction is that unless NIL guardrails are put in place, then after a few years of NIL growing pains, the schools with seriously rich alumni (Texas, aTm, Stanford etc.) will dominate college football - and all other sports. Alabama alums are not in that stratosphere of wealth. Most schools aren't. So I'll enjoy Alabama sports, but recognize we aren't going to have the money to consistently compete with the top-money schools.

But for now, we have an outstanding coach. I hope we can keep him! We have some pieces in place to have an excellent team. I hope we can keep them!

And no, I don't know how to put NIL guardrails in place that would withstand legal scrutiny.

And that’s where the PE funds that were discussed last week potentially come into play. They could invest in a school like Alabama that has everything they’re looking for; huge following, huge viewership, blue chip program, immense need of capital support. I’m not advocating it, I’m just saying we are probably their perfect target.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is the Transfer portal and the lack of homegrown recruits that bring the regional interest. We have too many Yankee players on the team! I always liked the fact that we had homegrown talent winning championships.

It's not only the players, it's the coaches. A contract means absolutely nothing!!! It can be broken at any time with no repercussions. Players don't care and neither do the coaches. No loyalty at all!

Well yeah that was the Football Roger’s Waters wrote about, but, obviously it applies to American football in this case. Especially seeing Texas Tech, Ohio State, Texas, Miami , Aggie , and all other FBS teams to a lesser extent are all buying their football teams. Even threw in 4* in the lyrics. Apropos , wouldn’t you say?

I was a regular on this forum for years…but now only pop in occasionally because I still have a slight Crimson pulse to keep a finger on…and some of you folks are like family to me…

…but from what I’ve seen recently, some of y’all have upped-your-crazy in an effort to match the current landscape of college football…because there’s a segment around here right now that’s downright LOONEY TUNES

I missed 2 games this year. I attended every game at home and a bunch away from 1994 to 2006. I Have watched every game on TV that was on TV or in person since 1967 and the ones not on TV that I was able to listen to on the radio, I listened.
The two games I didn’t watch this year? Oklahoma and Georgia.

Waning quickly.
I still watch Bama football for the time being but could really care less about other games.
There's really nothing to be loyal to anymore.
The schools are greedy, the agents/coaches are greedy, the players are greedy.
The players (not all but enough of them) can't take hard coaching or criticism. Don't want to have to earn their spot.
I am quickly losing interest.

It’s declined a bit for me. I’m not entirely sure if it’s all due to the crazy land created by NIL or the fact that I’ve gotten older and have other things going on in my life. I’ve always loved Alabama Football and Alabama athletics. Basically my entire family went to or goes to Alabama (like, only less than one hand’s worth of immediate and extended family went elsewhere) including some who played non-football sports at Alabama. I went to Alabama and graduated in 2014. I saw 3 NCs as a student and single digit total losses. It was awesome. My Saturdays revolved around watching every interesting game from 11am kickoff until College Football Final closed the night/early morning out. I’d have given anything to play for Alabama.

Now? I still watch every Alabama game- however when we lose it sucks but it doesn’t put me in a bad mood (definitely a good thing lol). I don’t follow what’s going on across the sport hardly at all. Why bother, losses barely matter and I have better things to do. I don’t recognize half the guys on the team and I don’t care that much- they will probably be gone in a year if they aren’t starting. Just a bunch of mercenaries who care about nothing but a paycheck. The university means nothing to them and it doesn’t grow on them across 3-4yrs. So why should I care about them at all? Numbers on a field. The sport has been ripped apart and taped back together with all that is worst about human nature, and I hate it. The teamwork, sacrifice, dedication, and passion that made me a fan are a shadow of what they were just 3-4yrs ago. I doubt I will ever stop watching Alabama football, but it’s just not the same.

I was losing interest in college football prior to the advent of NIL and the transfer portal, but my interest level over the last 3-4 years has fallen off the cliff. I no longer have great expectations for our team, if we lose I move on, I no longer care.

Wait, you got married on a college football Saturday when Bama was playing??! And you call yourself a fan! (JK, sorta).

Until a few years ago, I watched college football from College Gameday to PAC12 after dark. I barely watch Bama any more and never watch other games. Maybe I answered wrong when I selected “declined”?
