When you did realize that we were actually playing for the National Championship?

I'm sick and tired of the rumors, explosion of media coverage who clearly are grasping at anything to make a story, and just really wanting to college football to come back quicker.

So, I put this on here to remember when things were simpler. Regardless of whether you were at the Rose Bowl, or watching it on TV, when did it hit you that we were playing for the National Championship?

For me, it hit me when Alabama ran onto the field for pre-game warm ups. My friends and I had been up since 3AM getting ready and driving to get a good parking spot at the Rose Bowl. It hadn't hit me yet until the football team ran onto the field.

I can't wait to relive that memory again when we play at the University of Phoenix stadium in January 2011.

Some time after the euphoria of beating the Gators down had worn off. Probably the next Monday after that SEC championship to be exact.

It hit me that we were back to where we belonged - playing for the National Championship.

When my girlfriend, who is a Gator fan, texted me this (after Javy's interception of Tebow's end-zone pass): "Congratulations. On behalf of the SEC, kick some butt in Pasadena". So we were still actually playing that game when I realized it. :D

Before the season started. I just felt that it was our time with the players we had returning and with Coach Saban in year three,

In a thread in pre-season last year I said "We'll go undefeated and beat Texas for the National Title".

Was that luck? Yes.

But I'll take it.

Somewhere in between Javy's interception and standing in the GA Dome after Rammer Jammer was over :) it was all a happy blur...but standing there after beating the gators - it hit me - and it was great.

then it was ...ok, how do i get to Pasadena :)

I'd say when GMAC took a knee at the end of the SECCG. Then it hit me again when I was standing in the hotel lobby surrounded by Alabama and Texas fans waiting to board the bus and ride to the Rose Bowl.

When Peek made that over-the-shoulder catch to start the 2nd half with a score, I knew we were going to be tough to beat that day. Then, Javy's INT sealed the deal. I guess it "hit" me during the SECCG, watching our boys "be champions".

When GMac took a knee in the Georgia Dome to end the game. It was surreal.

As far as the BCSCG itself...I don't think it really hit me until Ingram scored on 3rd and 1 after we sacked Gilbert to get the ball back. I was on edge pretty much the entire game...and had some brown water in me as well.

Boy was I thankful that I took that Friday off!

Call me psychic, call me full of BS and gas but I knew we would play for the NC as soon as we won the Iron Bowl.

For some reason...I knew there was unfinished business after the Sugar Bowl last year. I knew that we were not done...and that we would see the fruits of our labor in 2009.

It was like being in the early 90s all over again.

When we had that long drive eating up a lot of time that ended in a TD in the SECCG. I knew even Tebow couldn't come back from that.

I had watched the game but my son's birthday party was scheduled for 6 pm Dallas time, so I listened to the game on the radio. We scored as I was pulling into the driveway of the skating rink, and I knew then it was over.

The cherry on top was the Javier Arenas pick.

That one told FLORIDA their reign was over.

When we got into the last couple of minutes in the SECCG. But, it did not sink in that we WERE the NC until about a week after beating Texas. I mean, I knew it, but it seemed like a dream, not real. I guess it was because it had been so long since we won one.

I felt it after the LSU game. I felt we could get by Auburn, although I didn't think it would be as close as it was. I also had a gut feeling that since CNS and Co. had been working on how to beat the spread offense and actually planning the SECCG for almost a year, that we would be victorious and by default, be playing for the NC.
