Where do we stand? 2/5

Looks like a couple of spots for grad transfers if we want to go that route. Next year's class will be awesome. The year after a title is generally when you get a huge bump. The 2017 class was insane.
 
Thanks to the mods who let us behind the curtain a little when describing how our passing woes were affecting recruiting.

There,seems to be a trend over the last two or two amd a half classes that he was a part of recruiting where we ended signing day saying "we missed at dl but that will be a major focus next year" well here we are again....
 
I guess a slightly down recruiting year was going to happen at some point.
But, it’s still a really good group, the sky is the limit for Anoma, Waddle and PS Jr.

We’ll have more spots next year and hopefully less staff turnover.
 
Just a couple of weeks ago many on here were pounding Tideflyer calling him a downer.....from my point of view, his worry (and some of us) was justified. I’m concerned about next year, as well. We are in a new type of recruitung now with early signing. I think it’s good Coach got rid of the ones, who didn’t recruit well and those who just didn’t do it, period.

With some of the new coaches Bama has hired that are reputed to be excellent recruiters, I think we will see a completely stronger effort that will yield some great results

I just don't understand you...I've been trying to understand you and your criticisms on the recruiting the last few years. It seems like it would take a moving mountain to please you. What is it about the recruiting that bothers you the most? What was something about Saban's philosophy on recruiting that you don't like the most?

I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from on this. I'm not here to criticize you or anything, but just trying to understand what's the issue is...
 
“The smarts” in recruiting news all thought that Alabama needed an unlikely sweep on NSD to get into the top class discussion (and were not going to overcome Georgia no matter what). I don’t know what people were expecting. Took a smaller sized class and finished comfortably in the top ten.

Sabans philosophy doesn't bother me. Karl Dunbar is a terrible recruiter, as was Brian Daboll. Dunbar is a great position coach but we've struggled to attract enough talent to meet our depth needs sunce he was hired. Nothing about sabans philosophy bothers me. His philosophy the premiere in all of the ncaa. Missing on langham today is a pretty good example of this. Other than that I'm pretty happy with our recruiting given staff changes this year.

Also,I'm not certain Brian Daboll ever spoke to a qb recruit while he was employed at UA.
 
As my FIL (a man I miss more than he would believe) would say, "We's spalled."

Worst recruiting in a decade, after two consecutive years of coordinator turnover, not to mention other staff members, and we're #6 in the country.

These are good times indeed.

Thank goodness we've got a core group of worriers - they're already worrying about next year - so I can just enjoy this year's terrific class and look forward to watching them develop while leading the Tide to future victories. Even in our 7 or so year run at #1 in the recruiting wars did we ever get everything or everyone we needed/wanted.
Here is a bit of perspective: this cycle we spotted the field five players and still ended at or about 5th, most anyone would/should be impressed by that that.​

Could be................I'm curious as to how they are utilized and what changes will be made...............thankfully Bama isn't in LSU's shoes, or even Pruitt at UT. Glancing at their boards, half of them are ready to run him off because he didn't sign a top 5 team, after being a dumpster fire for years........
 
All we need to do is think back to some of the classes we had before Saban got here. If I remember correctly, we probably would have sold our souls to have the class we just signed!
We're fine and the future looks great! Roll Tide!
 
I know there are some football staff types that feel pretty strongly that we probably inadvertently dodged a couple of bullets today by missing on some prospects.
