Where does it stop?

The one thing a lot of posters seem to be assuming is that we are going to face opponents who are bigger AND slower.
We are not. They will big, and they will be fast.

This is not 1975 and the defensive lines we face, except maybe for Utah St, will not be comprised of 240lb white guys, or 350lb sumo wrestlers. They will be lean 300 pounders that run sub 4.9 40's.

What do you have against White guys?

I think what we fail to realize is the fact that these 300 plus lineman are pretty quick maybe more so than most smaller lineman. Fact of the matter is that the game is evolving and things change whether we agree or not. :biga2:

Nothing. But in the era of college football when you could out-finesse the opposition in most, or even all, your games, the DL's were composed of relatively slow white guys. Just watching games from 20 years ago, the speed difference is amazing.

The point I was trying to make is that we're not going to out-finesse or out-quick any quality opponents in 2004. You need size, strength, agility, and a winning attitude. The days of the fat slow defensive lineman are gone. Coaches have already come to the same conculsion as most everyone on here, agility and quickness are important. But there are 280 - 320 pound linemen that are agile and quick, so unless you're Troy St, why settle for one that's 260?
