I'm headed to Tuscaloosa for the UT matchup. I have tickets for the game. However, next weeks game vs The Who's has proven itself as the toughest/most expensive ticket to date in the 2011 season. So, without tickets and unwilling to forgo the atmosphere of a No.1 vs No.2 matchup in Bryant Denny Stadium, we'll embark southward from North Alabama for what we consider an epic battle of SEC football giants.

I grew up just over the Black Warior River in Northport living in what was at the time the largest subdivision in the Southeastern United States, Northwood Lake. At the commencement of my 16th birthday I started going to the downtown area and campus on a daily basis. I eventually graduated UA in 1997 and moved away from my beloved hometown. So much has changed with the strip and dowtown areas since my romping days. I used to skateboard around the drive thru area of the First National Bank when they had the big number 1 on top of it going around in circles. That area used to be a run down warehouse district and now it's full of restaurants and businesses.

The strip used to be full of trees. The Houndstooth was a red colored house with wooden floors adjacent to it was The Brass Monkey and the Gyro King. Egans is still there and presumably will always be there (I think I still have an open tab there). But so much has changed. There are so many new places to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. However I'm taking some friends and I have a reputation to uphold after all Tuscaloosa is my hometown. The chances of us getting in the gates of BDS are slim to none. I just can't afford tickets at 400 + per. There's no way we're passing up the atmosphere, ESPN Gameday (I have a cool sign) and all the excitment of this matchup. I need some help from some of y'all who frequent the area more than I have these past 10 or so years. Where's the best place in Tuscaloosa to watch the game not called BDS? Keep in mind we'll be dining and having drinks while watching the game. Thank you very much!

Take a case of beer and you will be welcome at most of the Tailgate parties. They will drink beer with you, feed and entertain you like you are family. BTDT. (It's amazing what a little 'Good Cheer' will buy)
You even get to watch the game on a big screen if you pick the right RV.
