Question: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL? Just Henry and A'Shawn So Far

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

How do they choose who gets a grade? Aren't schools limited to sending in for 4 underclass man grades?

IIRC it's five/school, but they make exceptions in some cases. Could be in Alabama's case, with so many underclassmen that have potential for NFL playing time, that the exceptions are common.

You can get as many graded as you request. The players choose for themselves.

CA is correct about the official limit , but I have never heard of an exception request being denied. OSU requested 9 this year and got them.

I believe the limit was put in place starting last year, so there haven't been many opportunities to deny requests. Plus, how many schools really have more than 5 underclassmen that should be evaluated?

That's great news about Eddie. The defense should be very good next year, in a more balanced way than this year. All three levels should be solid.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

our defense is going to be crazy good next year. i cant wait to watch our d backfield in action. humphrey, fitzpatrick, harrison, jackson (and maybe tony brown). with another year under their belts.

Kendall Sheffield is like Marlon - signed as one of the top CB recruits and took a redshirt. Shawn Burgess-Becker primarily played special teams but should get some playing time at safety next year. Both guys have the chance to be studs in the secondary.

There's so much talent back there. Just have to max out the potential.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

They had their grades before they left for AZ. Tim Williams spilled the beans saying he had his grade last week. They just said they were not going to discuss in depth/focus on it until after the game.

Well, they all had their grades, they just had them in sealed envelopes and decided not to open them until after the game.

awesome. i knew we had some more studs in the wings, but couldn't remember who.

Yeah I remember Ragland bragging on Kendall Sheffield during the Cotton Bowl practices. He probably has the most "lock-down corner" potential out of the bunch. Gheez, our secondary is about to be ridiculous.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

The fallacy of this system is that the "draft grades" are done in an information vacuum. there are 32 first round slots. The grading process is done with only the known seniors and possibly a few no brainer juniors that are assumed, but in a few weeks time around a hundred juniors will declare MANY of whom were given 1st or 2nd round grades. but the slots remain at 32 and cannot change.

So I hear Tim Williams got a 1st or 2nd round grade. When you add the massive influx of juniors you might as well add a round to that so really it's 2nd to 3rd round. He did the right thing in staying to try and push that into a more solid 1st round grade. the difference in money is life altering. you only have one shot.

If you look back, the grades have been remarkably accurate over the years. They know what they're doing.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

I'm holding on to my hope - faint as it is - that either A Rob or J Allen stays for another season.

Selfish? You bet. Either one would go a long way in letting us do a rotation similar - again, similar - to what was done this season.

Keep hope alive!
