Who determines the SEC weekly player awards? Is this a meaningful evaluation by knowledgeable football people, or something chosen by media / SID types??
Usually, skill player awards are pretty cut-and-dried. Anyone can read the stat lines and have a good guess at who the QB, RB, etc. will win the title each week.
However, I saw today where Vlachos was acknowledged as a lineman, and it got me to wondering how these things are actually determined. I can't believe that someone at the SEC office sits and watches every offensive play from every team in the conference and picks the best lineman. Are nominees submitted by coaches on Sunday after watching the film?
