Who do we (UT) hire now??

Good Lord! This is ridiculous at the amount of turnover this is causing. Our chance of repeating in the SEC are going up everyday.

I really hope UT hires Cutcliffe - we will kill them if we do as recruiting has never been his strong point except at QB.

Tubbs probably would have had a pretty good shot at this job. James Willis should have stayed at Bama another year heck he might even have a shot at UT at DC.

Muschamp would be a good selection but he still hasnt been a head coach though.

Jack Del Rio's name will surface as a candidate.

Early word is that they are going VERY HARD after Muschamp. My TN fried is saying that there is already a trip to Austin in the works (very unverifiable, probably unreliable information there). Personally I would not be surprised if they did pull him out of that (IMHO stupid and hollow) coach in waiting deal.

VolQuest has reported that Muschamp is #1 on the list. So, there is at least some truth to this

I wouldn't be surprised either. There're only a few months in age between Brown and Saban. I tend to think Brown is going to hold on like Diddy, rather than quitting when he hits 60...

Yea that is why I considered the TX coach in waiting thing hollow. Especially compared to FSU where Bowden was obviously on the way out.

I don't know a thing about what Muschamp likes or wants, but one would have to believe that the title alone is not enough to hold him there if the right program\offer comes along.

TN may or may not be it, but from what I am hearing there will be a full court press for him. They will have the money for a hefty offer.

Muschamp is going to be the head man at Texas in about a year or two. I don't think he would leave a set up like that to take the Tenn job right now. As for Chower or Gruden there is no chance. They need to look at a good Asst coach that is in the SEC, but I don't know who that may be.

Vols Target Muschamp as Head Coach

On Mike & Mike on ESPN, the scroller at the bottom of the page says that Tennessee's top target for HC is Muschamp out at Texas. No other info there.

I believe UT will come off their pocket book and make him a hefty offer. UT needs to stop the bleeding and FAST. I think he takes the job at UT.

I'm not happy with this turn of events. I liked Kiffin being at TN.

Sigh... TN now gets a do-over.

Hopefully Muschamp stays at TX. TN gets Cutcliffe perhaps. Or Ed O.?? How about Nutt?? He's an itenerant.

Note: I haven't read the posts on this thread yet so maybe Ed O. is already out of the picture...

So is this good publicity? Who would've thought Al Davis actually knew what he was talking about? Sorry can't help myself. You know Wiccans believe that whatever you do comes back to you three fold, that is why you do not do evil things with no threat of Hell. This UT saga is beginning to convince me that maybe they are on to something. Of course if they are, we aren't even close to three fold for the Volnation yet.

Long term Kiffin did you guys a favor and probably saved Hamilton's job. My only regret is that you guys might actually stumble onto a better coach, not that hard to do I know. I'll just throw this out there, I am available and, absent the famous father, I'm just as qualified as Kiffin and will gladly take your money. Heck, I'll even hang around longer than a year and won't mouth off constantly.

I've long said that if I were looking for a solid HC, I'd go for Gary Patterson. Muschamp may be a great coach at some point, but I wouldn't want to risk the future on a big money hire with an unproved head coach, which Muschamp is at this point.

I don't envy Mike Hamilton one bit right now, though I am enjoying the show...

I see where a couple of posters are bringing up Leach. I don't see anybody touching this guy with a ten foot pole. True or not, allegations of player abuse will get you on the cold list in a flash.

BTW, when a dude makes Al Davis of the Raiders look like a prophet, how screwed up do you have to be?:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Top 3 should be
1. Gruden
2. Cowher
3. Petrino

Realistic hires:
1. Skip Holtz (he is proven)
2. David Cutcliffe (he is proven)
3. Jim Leavitt (just kidding) --- Steve Spurrier (yes I said it)
4. Dan Mullen

I don't think Muschamp or another unproven guy is the answer.
