Yes. There's no proof this was Lanning or his agent, but I can't help but wonder how many flights (on high-end private jets) occur between Eugene and Tuscaloosa.
I suspect this was an early meeting / interview and we'll have confirmation soon that Lanning is the new HC. I've no inside info, but there are a few things like this that seem to indicate this was in place for some time...

The fact that Lanning basically blew off Texas A&M yet he is in Tuscaloosa tonight makes you wonder how long was this really going on
Seems like he lost to Washington and a week later in an interview, probably had to sign a NDA, and there was maybe an agreement in principle. Probably a press conference in the a.m.
I would be willing to bet that Saban was interviewing assistants for the successor coach. This will fall in line with exactly how i think this transition would be handled...
And the new of Saban's retirement was around 5 PM and Lanning is in Tuscaloosa at 9PM and it's a four hour flight.
CDL has had a front row seat working for two coaches that have a combined 9 national championships. He’s had two successful seasons at Oregon. I think he’s ready and if not, CNS would’ve let his opinion be known.
With Saban being so detail oriented and the way he feels about the team that after watching dumpster fires in other head coach searches, he wanted to avoid all that commotion and to keep the team together. (Yes, Aubie I'm talking about you.)
That's what I think. There's been behind the scenes secret activity going on for a while, in regard to Saban's retirement. A well guarded secret.
If it is indeed Lanning.....I'm going to be a very happy Bama fan and super excited to see where this goes.

The thing that makes me sick is that his last play as head coach at UA was a blown snap in OT and we ended up a yard short. Good Lord think about that for a second. Wow.
If CDL is indeed announced as the next Alabama head coach tomorrow or Fri, all these happenings going on make me think CNS had a lot of input on who and how his succession would take place.
I only see Lanning as a strong possibility on this list. Kirby is not going anywhere because he is home and in a strong position. We can't compete with Texas on the money to get Sark, but all those big money guys seem to try to run the program. Sark might be fed up with all that inside politics, who knows. If that is the case, Sark might show some desire for something else. Still a long shot. Kiffin would do well here, but probably has burned too many bridges to be considered. That leaves Lanning.
