Who is Saban's replacement?

I would think any offer could require some assurances from Dabo if he was the successful candidate of what he would do and how to utilize the portal and NIL to make the team better and sustain success...
Obviously, this is the biggest question you'd ask. If he has a plan and answers correctly though... then I think he pushes his way to the top of the list.

It's funny how the guy that was supposed to be the bag man for Alabama, a guy of poor character, also doesn't want to tamper with players in the portal, heh.

The more I go over the options... you remove Lanning and Smart from the board, to me you have to have that talk with Dabo. He gives the wrong answers you move on, but what if he has the right ones?

Edit: I did kind of have Sark tied with Dabo but then I looked at the resumes. Sark has done a lot of losing in his career...

Hey everyone, we’re not going to have a complaint thread on this, so please keep your emotions in check, and no bickering

Not that it’s happened yet, but I’m starting to sense it. If you’re starting to feel a little emotional, just take a break

We are all a little anxious, but we don’t wanna have to deal with emotional posts either

And it’s been less than 24 hours, it will be OK

So with the alleged reports of Lanning being in T-town, but sources saying he wasn't, how do we reconcile the flight tracker? Didn't flight tracker show otherwise or at least there was a flight between T-town and Eugene? I would think in this day and age (esp given the public awareness of "flight tracker" during coaching searches), that UA would either use a different "private" plane vs. the University plane.

Well, the complaint thread DID HELP US get on the right track offensively this season, just saying...

Answers are meaningless when you want results. What questions are you going to ask? And what are the right answers?

How would you explain your decline in performance during the portal era?
How does one go 8-4 in the ACC with the talent you have on the roster?
Have you learned how to manage staff turnover?
Are you going to leave your copy of "How to clap on the sideline" by Mike Dubose in SC?

We had conversations about Clemson and NIL years ago didn't we? And I said that Clemson didn't have the financial support to hang with the top programs.

It's not all on Dabo! Clemson isn't that rich, they can't pay with the top programs, I was the one saying Clemson was due for a fall was I not? We've had these discussions.

Of course if you bring Dabo in for an interview you have to get a clear understanding of how he'll use the portal and NIL effectively. But, he'd be far, far better positioned at Alabama!

The level of hyperbole in that statement. And I'd counter with his resume looks a lot like Bobby Bowden, and geniuses decided not to hire him either.

Dude won two championships, with two different QBs and would have won another if Saban wasn't in the way. Every other name on the list combined doesn't have his resume.

How has he done since sign-stealing Venables has been gone...?

$20,000,000 is nothing, a New York Senator became famous for her line about disregarding all those zero's. They were nothing...
These days good head coaches make between $5 and $10 million dollars a year. Think of it as a buyout that may be salary based. When Coach Saban was hired people thought it was outlandish to offer a new coach that kind of money. We got our money's worth. Now remember the hundreds of millions of dollars that Coach Saban helped the university earn since he was hired.

The only thing that gave it credibility was Tony T. Some of the flight stuff was photo shopped

I would start by asking what problems arose at Clemson. Mind you, I predicted those problems years ago so I think I have an idea and it's not all Dabo.

What issues did he have with NIL, with the portal, and what would he be able to do differently at Alabama?

The guy won 10+ games from 2011-2022.

People are saying this guy is the worst possible hire, but Kiffin and Sark both of whom got fired due to poor job performance (and other issues) are better? Dabo had a bad season and still won 9 games.

I think I posted the wrong number earlier.

Dabo is 170-43.
Kiffin and Sark combined are 166-98.

It's not even close. This might not be Bill Curry vs Bobby Bowden but it's close enough to bring up.

This is the key part. I think everyone hopped on the "There was a plan and Lanning is the guy" concept, and when that appears to have not happened, there's panic.

For all we know, the University may have known that Lanning was using the Tuscaloosa trip to barter for a raise at Oregon.

It's way too soon to even stress about it.
