Who is Saban's replacement?

My personal favorites so far are the "I know who it is but cannot say" It is the perfect thing to say, then no matter who it is you are right,

This is Josh Pate in a nut shell and why I have stopped watching his videos as often as I use too. So tired of the "I have connections and know things but can't talk about it". Honestly, there are posters here that do the same thing and its annoying. If you do know something but can't say then just stay quite. Otherwise, I have a hard time believing people like Josh Pate have the connections they claim. I think it is all a smoke screen to make them feel important and get clicks.

Same goes for all the ESPN and media guys throwing names at the wall. All of them were 100% sure it was Lanning until it wasn't. Dude didn't even get an interview and yet the world was sold that he was already hired. The media is not as well connected as they like to claim.

And puts to bed all talk of his retirement being “meticulously planned”; he literally knew five minutes before he did it.

I don't think that's right. I suspect he knew for weeks that he was running out of steam. But it's literally a life-changing decision. He can't decide come A Day that, daggum it, he had another year in him. Even the greats are going to second-guess a decision of that magnitude.

So if you believe what you read from half the insiders, it was Byrne who has been planning on this for a while and Saban had been working and interviewing coordinators up until yesterday before he decided to retire surprising everyone.

The other half say we already have a replacement hand picked by Saban.

I guess if something is announced before the weekend, we know the second group is right.

The more this drags on I think it’s Kiffin. Especially since he sent that cryptic text.

To my knowledge, Kiffin has as of yet not categorically denied interest in the Alabama HC position?

If he is hired-

I love Kaleb Deboer because he brings a reset, fresh ideas and energy. A new way of doing things. Proven record as a program builder . A winner

I hate Kalen Deboer because he hasn't shown the ability to recruit at a good, much less elite level. I don’t know if he can evaluate HS talent . Recruiting is a huge deal in the SEC, Harsin was a good football coach but he didn’t understand how big recruiting was to success in the SEC.

Harsin’s problem was that he thought Auburn was BK and he could have it his way. Recruiting and that were linked together especially after angry boosters revolted on him after one year.

One thing that's making folks (me included of course) nervous about the time issue is, back in the pre Saban (aka dark) times when we were going through a search every 3-5 years, we had all kinds of time with which to work. These days, we simply do not have the luxury of time being on our side

And the perch Alabama is on right now is a little bit higher than the perch during those searches.

Why is Dabo so disrespected? He built the program at Clemson, won national championships in 2016 and 2018, and by all accounts is an excellent recruiter. The “portal issue”, for which he has been disparaged, is fatuous--- I’m certain if selected, he would willingly troll the portal to assuage his critics. How many rings do the other candidates have, or have such a pedigree?

I don't watch him very often because he will talk for 10 minutes and there is only about 1 minute of useful information and the rest is just a bunch of words. He seems like a good guy but I agree that he probably exaggerates his connections and sources just to get clicks and views.
