Who is Saban's replacement?

With all the Lanning RUMORS, reckon Phil Knight is trying to cobble together some cash to keep him from leaving?

Derrick was built by Bama. Besides, haven’t we learned our lesson about hiring NFL coaches with little college coaching background?
Perkins? Or you mean Shula? Shula was never a head coach. From what I understood Perkins' team was about to become a juggernaut before he left.

Besides, college football is becoming more and more like NFL with NIL money and transfer portal (ie free agency).

Btw, I'm okay with Lanning being our head coach.

He won't have to cobble, the only question is just how much is he willing to spend?

Some things Phil Knight can't offer Lanning, and part of that is the fertile recruiting ground that Alabama has. Knight will keep Oregon athletics well funded (he's already spent 1 billion, he could spend 30 times that and not be broke) but he's not going to relocate the campus.

I was barely 2 when Coach Bryant retired, so I really don’t remember Perkins or the Bowden debacle. I just remember Curry’s last year and all the rumblings of Alabama wanting one of “Bryant’s Boys” to come turn it back around. We all can agree that was a complete failure.

This time around, unless you’re bringing in Kirby, it seems like it probably would serve us well for the future’s sake to leave the Saban assistants where they are. I just hope we don’t repeat the dark years because we’re trying to recreate the magic of an elite coach with a historic run.

Whomever is on their way, will most likely be unfairly scrutinized from the jump because we have been so spoiled as a fanbase.

Why is everyone so high on sark. Less baggage than Kiffin? To me it is Lanning or Kiffin. Everyone else (that is realistic ie k smart, ryans) would be a disappointment.

and why is no one talking about Rees? Saban brought him in to groom him up this year, haha

I hope I'm wrong but we may not have coaches lined up wanting this job as we may think. The person they'd be following is the greatest of ALL TIME and the pressure immense.

Dan Lanning would be great but does anyone really have a clue if the guy wants it? My guess is Kirby's slimey self is already on the phone telling him "don't take the job, you've got it made where you are." And giving him a 100 reasons why he shouldn't take it. We'll all have to wait and see but I will not be surprised one bit if when it's all said and done Lane K is the only one with his hand raised saying "PICK ME!!!".
I mean, I think Lane Kiffin would win at least one National Championship at Alabama.

Oregon hasn’t been great at keeping coaches lately.
