Just because he is in Tuscaloosa doesn't mean anything one way or the other. It just means Bama is interested and Lanning is going to go and listen even if he has zero interest.

Am I missing something? He's hired Mark Helfrich, Willie Taggart, and Mario Cristobal. He wasn't AD yet when Chip Kelly was hired.

I have a hard time believing within a few hours Saban’s had both retired and lanning is on a jet to Tuscaloosa.. I think that this has been in the works for awhile.

I recall reading an article that stated Lanning was a grad assistant at Bama. Coach Saban had intentions of hiring him as an assistant but Kirby got to him first and the rest is history.

If this is how it happening, then the AD is ill-prepared to make this hire. Saban himself would not allow the program to bungle the hiring of his successor.
