If its not DeBoer who else is really left?
Stalling for DeMeco Ryans...?
If its not DeBoer who else is really left?
Hey stranger!!!
All those premium coaches are reaping the harvest with this Saban announcement, and their agent is certainly playing it for everything they can get.It looks like Sark has signed a extension, was reported on Gary Harris show
Been a wild couple of days!!Hey There!
I guess Saban’s retirement brought me back to read the forums.
As long as we get a solid hard nosed football coach like DeBoer or Klieman I am satisfied. But you are right...could be a name totally off the radar like Oats was. This DeBoer thing might still be nothing other than a smokescreen. Maybe we will know soon. But, it might end up taking more than two or three days to finalize the selection of our future coach. If so, I would think that Saban or Byrne would meet again with the team and explain that selecting the right coach is critical and a little more time is needed; just hang on until this thing gets settled.
Give him a few years and he might be ready to leave, if the alumni and boosters start trying to run the show..............and Arch may not hang around since Ewers is stayingIt looks like Sark has signed a extension, was reported on Gary Harris show
At this point, this has been a complete air ball from Byrne. If people like Tommy Rees are actual candidates.
Its also very clear that our top options said no, which again is not a good thing or a good look.
Yeah…’cause his track record is setting the world on fire…lol…c’mon…

Good stuff man. More importantly, who were the ADs in place making those decisions? I think we have an upgrade in place today.I started out pretty calm with this whole process, Lanning was someone I thought was a great hire before the start of the season and nothing changed since then to disavow me of that notion.
Now, who knows? Could be great, could be terrible, we might not know for a few years. That's always the fun part, right?
Since I'm a glutton for punishment, let's review the post Bryant hires.
Ray Perkins, could have had Bowden but why make the obvious choice?
Bill Curry, still could have been Bowden but why quit making bad choices now (so much hubris in the hiring process)?
Gene Stallings, a merciful hire all things considered. Failed to complete the trifecta of bad hires.
Mike DuBose, now that's more like it.
Dennis Franchione, I'd blocked him from my mind. One ten win year at TCU was enough to land the job.
Mike Price, he had two consecutive 10 win seasons at Washington State
Mike Shula, hired because of his last name.
Then you have the absolutely bonkers set of circumstances that lead to Saban. Alabama turns down Spurrier, tries to hire Rich Rod only to have that blow up and end up with Saban.
That's kind of like missing a shot and having the ball bounce off a player's head and into the basket.
Anyway, who knows right? We've had a great run, but this could go great or it could go horribly wrong. I'd love to see a smooth transition but that hasn't been how Alabama does it in the past (the last smooth transition of greatness to greatness was 1930-31 Wallace Wade to Frank Thomas.
Well, they do have the right to want to stay where they are if they so desire..............you cant always hire who you wantThat’s extraordinarily premature and makes a lot of assumptions.
Saban always liked his assistants to get interview experience. He develops EVERYBODY.Rees interview, if there was one, was just obligatory...![]()
I believe so as well. He will hang around long enough to see the transition through, but ultimately, he's headed to Florida, which ironically, will bring all of this full circleI agree. Saban may have his new office in the stadium, but I believe that room will be gathering dust in a few weeks. All he will be doing is trying to support the transition. After that, his hat will be hanging in Florida. I think it is great that he is being so supportive.

How so? Byrne said that you won't hear from him until there is announcement. That's what is happening. Silence only means that there haven't been any leaks. At this point Saban should consider un-retiring and coming back for a year. Seems like this entire situation has been botched.
Yeah, as much as we love the guy, that bridge has been crossed and there is no going back. If that happened, recruiting would be in the tank, knowing that he would be gone in one more year.At this point Saban should consider un-retiring and coming back for a year.
