None of those things are clear - not one. IMO, Lanning was never even under consideration. There is nothing to indicate that he was; he never said so, even with his ostentatious display in a national interview. DeBoer has beaten him in 3 consecutive high-stakes games in the last 2 years. He has also beaten Sarkisian in both of the last 2 years and like vs Lanning, with far less talent.I mean techincally you are right. There is no way we'll ever know the LIST.
However i think its pretty clear to most anyone that Lanning and Sark would be two at the top, minus of course Kirby.
And i think its also clear that guys like Rees and Deboer probably were never at the top of the list.
I'm personally hoping for a 180 from someone at the top of the LIST. Even with deboers track record i'd expect to see a large portion of the team hit the portal if its him... and if its someone like Tommy Rees, then i cant even imagine.
Nah, my skin is thicker than that.3…2…1…
Just needs the right DC.DeBoer is an offensive minded coach so I think the skill players on offense would stay. If Julian Sayin stays there's a good chance he could start as a TF in a DeBoer/Grubb offense. We'd score plenty of points. My concern is that we'd give up a lot of points as well.
No, its clear we missed on YOUR and the MEDIA'S top choice....none of us know who Byrne's top choice isNo but you ARE hearing from people that would clearly be at the TOP of our list that they arent coming. (Sark, Lanning) and now even Kiffin.
I mean at this point unless one of the above does a 180, or someone like Kirby gets pulled from the magic hat. Its painfully clear we missed our top choices.
Even if we get Deboer. There is no way he was one of our top 2-3 choices to begin the search.

Yeah, its kinda sad.................there wont ever be another Nick Saban, but there are some good coaches out there.Man this place is turning into a room full of View attachment 39986
I think the mods should add a new metric to the dashboard - call it the Eeyore Score. Once you get so many Eeyore points you have to take the Eeyore avatar for a month.Just as I remembered it 🤣
Frankly, I think Grubb stays on as Washington's head man if Deboer were to be hired by Alabama.DeBoer is an offensive minded coach so I think the skill players on offense would stay. If Julian Sayin stays there's a good chance he could start as a TF in a DeBoer/Grubb offense. We'd score plenty of points. My concern is that we'd give up a lot of points as well.
Again you are right. We will probably never know the true list.. and to go a step farther we'll probably get told this was the guy we were looking at all along.
At this point, I'd be happy with Deboer, as it looks like others on the lists are no longer a possibility.
Stages of grief...we are still in stage 1:Just as I remembered it 🤣
Morgan Fairchild?Or Freeman McNeill (for the old timers)
Folks here don't remember the last 4 coaching searches and it shows.![]()
Thank youByrne made some (what I think) very important comments right off the bat about this process that I think we need to pay very close attention to. He said, "there will be a lot of rumors but do not believe anything unless it comes out of my mouth". Now, that can be taken a lot of ways, and one of those ways could be taken as some of the rumors were coming from UA's office...on purpose. The other way, and the most accepted meaning is people who have nothing to do with the process are going to say anything to get clicks and attention.
I think it would be a safe hire. I don't think Klieman would crash the Ferrari, but I'm not sure he would win championships either.I’ve thought for a few years that Chris Klineman would be a solid hire. I wonder if he has been seriously considered at all? Won multiple championships, has managed to recruit well and keep K-State at the top of the Big 12, trust Manhattan is not an easy place to convince folks to play, does well with player development. Imagine the potential,of what he could do at Bama? Def not the splashy hire folks are looking for but could be a good one. It’ll be curious to see who when it is all said and done. I mean Kiffin hasn’t said no yet…hah!
