Who's watching the World Cup?

Final score 2-1!

What a game! I knew it would be competitive but didn't expect this....wow! Tough opponent today. Respect to Norway for fighting 'till the end!!

And 3 Lions move on! 🙂

I predicted England before the thing began this year.
Told my Oregon bud.

That lucky imbecile is in England this morning visiting his daughter, who's going to school in York while I'm stuck in the Texas heat.

And now we are down to just 4 teams!!!

The Semi-finals start on Tues. July 14 at 3pm with France vs Spain.

And then Argentina vs England on Wed. July 15, also at 3pm.

There will be another game on Sat. July 18 at 5pm to decide 3rd place.

The Finals will be played the following day (Sun. July 19) at 3pm.

Certainly, it is anybody's championship now that the top 4 seeds are in the semis. I have been pulling for Messi and the gang of nobodies to win it all but frankly they seem to be hanging on by a thread in every match. France seems to be the class of the tournament but they too look pedestrian in some of their outings of late. The English have the most to play for since they haven't won it since I was born over a half century ago +10. We will see soon enough if Spain still has the special sauce tomorrow but man, sure has been a whale of a tournament so far.

This is the most talented men's team we have ever fielded.

Still not good enough, but also light years from where we were less than 40 years ago.

When we qualified for the first time in 40 years for the 1990 WC you couldn't even watch the games on tv and it was a miracle that we beat Trinidad & Tobago on the road to even qualify that year.

The day Soccer players can get paid on par with the NBA and NFL, when the Jalen Waddles, Jalen Hurts', Deion Sanders', Bo Jacksons, LaTrell Sprewells, Michael Jordans, Scottie Pippens and David Palmers start playing, well, the rest of the world will all be playing for second place.

I remember the Dream Team. It'll be exactly like that.

Edit: I forgot Julio Jones. Too many others to mention.

The French player who is in studio talking about the matches called us a sleeping giant the other day. We have potential, we just have go get it.

22m in, 1-0 Spain on a penalty. France better watch out on that footsie kicking stuff....

And it's Bastille Day!

Well I was very very wrong! I think the penalty changed the game but still! Wow!

I hope I am wrong about tomorrow too!

Can't argue with that logic. You are probably dead on. I am pulling for Argentina oddly enough. Messi has been such a good ambassidor for the sport and for the one non-European team left in the tournament to win it all would be awesome to me. But any of the teams left can win this thing. Heck, I even expect Belgium to give the Spanyards all they can handle today.
Lol I was completely wrong apparently!!!!

Spain plays defense!

Very impressed with their Goalkeeper, Simon, today. Guy was a monster at that position.

Final score: 2-0 & Spain moves on to the Finals. France will play for 3rd place with the loser of tomorrow's other Semi.

Gotta say the ball handling by Spain today was some of the best I have seen in any game in quite a while. They EARNED the win today!
