Mike Siedel is always in the heart of the storm. Cantore usually camps out 50 to 100 miles from the storm, but puts on the act that he's in the heart of the storm....
He has more on the job experience than this girl in Galveston, so she has to pay her dues so she can move up the corporate ladder.Mike Siedel is always in the heart of the storm. Cantore usually camps out 50 to 100 miles from the storm, but puts on the act that he's in the heart of the storm....
And the home of the BRAVE - the police, firemen, Coast Guard who respond to the calls of the idiots who didn't wish to evacuate and are calling to be rescued. If someone wants to ride out a Cat. 3 (or a strong Cat. 2) then fine but don't cry to be rescued when the water rises and the wind blows at 100 mph. However, I do heartily agree about the media hyping the storms! :BigA:(snipped)
And if people dont wish to evacuate dont call them crazy. THIS IS THE LAND OF THE FREE!!!
Amen. Harris County Judge Emmet said on the news a little while ago they had 4,700 calls for rescue. He said they have to wait. Can't blame him for protecting the men and women that serve us.And the home of the BRAVE - the police, firemen, Coast Guard who respond to the calls of the idiots who didn't wish to evacuate and are calling to be rescued. Yep.O yeah i am completely fine with that as well. Pay the repercussions for decisions you make. And if you cant get rescued then o well you cant sue someone.
Fast Forward to 4:50I'm really surprised SNL has never done a skit of the weather channel.
I don't want to sound mean, and maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way, but does anyone else wish that just once, a big sign or something would smoke one of these guys standing out in the 70 MPH winds telling us not to go out in them? I mean, I don't want death or even injury, I hope if it happens they pop back up and keep on reporting, but just to see them get laid out on national TV would make my day.
We rode it out in Katy like we did Rita. Lost power for 1 hour from 5 am to 6 am. Otherwise, we are fine. Winds kicked up around 2 am from 5 am. We had a lot of palm tree limb/leaves down, but we cleaned up our yard and helped several of our neighbors. That's what neighbors do.DBF - did you 'hunker down' or evacuate? I'm assuming the latter since you're online - unless you have a satellite connection
I heard cantore say this morning that this was the first time in 16 years he's been in the eye.
I saw the pictures from the Houston Chronicle. What it did to the JP Morgan building was unbelievable. I'll post the pictures in a seperate thread. Also, glad to see you made it through ok!We rode it out in Katy like we did Rita. Lost power for 1 hour from 5 am to 6 am. Otherwise, we are fine. Winds kicked up around 2 am from 5 am. No damage to the house...a couple of shingles lost, but nothing major. One section of fence blew down, but it needed to be replaced any way. Most of western Harris County/Katy has power...still 1.9 million customers are without power which is sad.
It makes you realize the little things you take for granted such as AC. We were blessed...
