I know I've posted this before, but here's a side-by-side comparison of Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Tennessee. Auburn isn't even in the ballpark.

Amazing that they always think they are so much more.

Hmmm................me thinks somebody didn't give Tennessee the two other national titles they won.

Other than that, it's a nice collection of data.

What years? Certainly not trying to slight UT. If they were awarded by the same standards as UA, AU and LSU's let's count them.

BTW, this is the first time anyone (including a few UT fans I know) have mentioned other National Championships (again, recognized by the same standards as the others).

1938 is usually considered a "consensus" national championship for Tennessee, as is 1950. Both years didn't see the AP pick them, but most NCAA recognized mathematical systems picked Tennessee over the AP or UPI recognized national champs.

The UTAD claims 1940 and 1967, but those aren't really "legit" MNC's.

Not trying to start anything here, but that was kind of bugging me a little. Other than that, I thought it told the story. Alabama is the most prestigious program in southern football(and possibly in the nation), and the data on that page tells that.

Because you can start a Heisman campaign after one win against sub-par competition.

It also allows one to be completely and utterly insane, and say things like, "who can can even slow us down on offense? Bama will have no answer for Cam"...

Let me break down Auburn fans for you. 99% fall into these categories:

1 Women like them for 1 of 2 reasons- either they relate to them from an "underdog role" in life or they are just brain dead girls that have no clue about football.
2 You have your "farmer" people who like them because of Auburn's agricultural, conservative side. (They are generally the best Auburn fans I find)
3 Then you have people that are the hardest to tolerate. These are the people that I consider to have a mental disorder. They view life as they are the underdog and their going to show big brother they are tough too. They relate very heavily with the "Rocky role" in life. They probably got picked on as a kid and never got over it. They root against Alabama almost as a way to fight their own demons. I think that's why they are so passionate and when pushed they look like they are going to cry.

This may sound like mental hog-wash, but I am telling you there is somthing to this. "MOST" True-blue Auburn fans have a emotional disorder and that is why they love them so much. They relate to that underdog role.:BigA:

It's great to be a Barn fan because...
1) you can say anything you want and people don't care
2) you can do anything you want, including winning every football game in a season, and still no one cares
3) no one will ever hold you to a higher standard, because you have none
4) you never have to buy a frisbee (endless supply of cow patties)

Shocco, I think you are 100% on the mark with these reasons especially #3. I don't knowif I'd call it an emotional disorder, but they definitely have issues and a skewed way of viewing things.

I don't have a reason why it's great to be an Auburn fan, because I can't imagine that it is. I think the reason a lot of people are Auburn fans is just to go against the grain. Alabama is probably close to 80% crimson and some just want to be different. I know several people who aren't originally from Alabama that became Auburn fans. Most of them will tell you it's because there are so many Alabama fans they decided to go for the underdog. Then, there are those who just like to go against family members who are Alabama fans. I became an Alabama in the early 60's because my parents were such big Alabama fans. At that time, I didn't even know there were fans of any other team.
