Why?

I have been a long time reader to the wonderful world of Tidefans (back in the Dubose days) and I love the TIDE! I try not to be the "Monday - Expert" because unless you have done it you have no idea how much pressure it is coaching a game (of any kind), but I do have two "why" questions.

1. Why? Are we not playing the walk-on quarterbacks? If SP can not go Saturday where are we at that spot. In the 4th quarter last week against LSU it should have been practice for Milwee (sp?), Thrash, somebody? Am I wrong with this thought?
2. Why? Are we not playing our offense? It seems like we start to open up the offense in some games and then close it up? Example: LSU first quarter. My thought is; I would rather lose "big" playing our game than lose by a little trying to control the ball with conservative play calling. Am I wrong with this observation?

I just wanted to ask the best group of posters in the World Wide Web why?
This team is special and we have made improvement since last year, even with all of the injuries! We are bowling again and that means more practice, more tv exposure and most importantly bowl money!
ROLL TIDE!!!! :BigA:

Welcome to TideFans!

Now, my opinion:

1. There's a reason they're behind Pennington on the depth chart. Why put these guys in when they don't know the offense. Milwee and Thrash are there to call in the plays, not to jump in and lead us to a victory.

2. We opened up our offense in the first quarter because we had great field position. After the ridiculous "no-call" Our starting field position changed and we were pinned around the 5 yard line the entire game, which limits your offense. LSU was bringing the heat as well, and every time we tried to pass in the second half, he was running for his life.

The are both 'walk-on' True Freshman. Why burn their redshirt season if they were not good enough to get a scholarship???

KanBama thank you for your insight!
Bama Lee didn't Gillberry (sp?) walk-on and look at him now.

I guess what I am saying is A walk-on Freshman is going to be better than no quarterback at all! It would be nice for these signal callers (Thrash and Milwee) to be able to find their helmet when the time comes.
And from what I understand MG will not be an option due to his medical condition.

Roll Tide! :BigA:

Actually...

Mg and SP are splitting reps and MG will probably start. If neither of them can finish, look for Prothro as the next option, rather than the two freshmen, who haven't had time to scratch the surface on learning the offense. Gilberry was a late schollie recipient because of a very strong showing in the AL/MS HS all-star game...

Gilberry was given a scholarship that opened up late. He also red-shirted his first year. Much like we are trying to do with the Milwee and Thrash.

i'll say this: if milwee or thrash ever ever ever ever see the field, then bama is in deep deep deep deep trouble!
1. SP is going to play. If he doesnt, MG is going to play. MG is okay. He could play if needed.
2. We are running our offense(the only one we can). Dont expect the same game we played with brodie to be played w/SP. we just dont want him to lose the game for us. we want to keep it close so we have a chance to win in the 4th Qtr. This gameplan has worked for the most part. we just havent made the plays to win the game.
