Last year I know bama had a bad year but I have friends who claim it was Brodie's fault.I try to tell them that you can't thow the ball while on your back. What is your opinon?

NEW COMER ALERT!!!!!!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Brodie has enough topics about him to fill a book.

Personally I think he's a good QB that will only prosper as he learns. Providing he stays healthy. And the offensive line has been discussed in length here also. Check out the archives.

ROLL TIDE BROTHER!!!!!!

i don't know that there are as many Brodie bashers as you suggest. i think most people just want BAMA to win the game. they want to see the best QB for the job taking the snaps.

reasonably, there is room for debate about who that QB is.

some fans latch on to whichever player is slotted in the 1st string QB spot and swear, no matter what, that he's the greatest. i, for one, have never been that way.

i think Brodie is a good QB, but i believe the two backups (Pennington in particular) deserve some attention, too.

I think all true Bama fans WANT to see Brodie be successful, successful in the sense of leading the team to a winning season and a bowl game appearance. And I honestly think he will get that opportunity before he graduates. As for assigning all the blame to him for last year, that's absurd.

Frustration and immaturity. Frustrated because of the un-BAMA like seasons we've had recently and too immature to rationally accept it.

Immature people generally have to have a scapegoat whenever things don't go their way and the QB is the most visable member of a football team, therefore he gets piled on. The QB and the HC.

In BAMA's case, the AD gets jumped on pretty hard too.

I'd say that Bama fans usually have the habit of latching onto the #2 QB and seeing him as the next great Bama hope. Anyway, blaming last year on Brodie is sort of like blaming tornados on mobile homes...

I think Brodie will silence all the naysayers in 2004. Heck...last season he had
a torn up shoulder and broken ribs and still managed to beat the Bama QB Sophmore passing
record with a stick.

Expect a 200 lb.+ stronger Brodie on the field this season.
Coach Johnston is helping him muscle up to
take those licks in stride, hopefully the
Offensive line will hold a little better to help out too. Roll Tide!!

I have proof that mobile homes are magnets for tornadoes. Wait..

....

..

.

My evidence was blown away.

The fact is we have been fielding coaches and players in a mis-managed environment. Whether Shula can rise above our own sins remains to be seen.

Part of the problem is that it's human nature to think the #2 or maybe even the #3 QB is better than the #1 QB. Many fans of other teams are that way. On the other hand, in our society, we want IMMEDIATE success and results. A year or two down the road doesn't cut it in our NOW NOW NOW society.

I think Brodie IS a good QB but at the same time, if you're running for your life all season, in excruciating pain every time you throw the ball, can't audible when you can plainly see a blitz is coming and you have some receivers with hands of stone, it's difficult to be successful.

i lot of people remember Brodie's interceptions... not because there were a lot of them, because there really weren't that many, but because he threw them at the worst possible times and usually deep in our own territory on a route that was doomed. i remember on at least two occasions deep in our own territory, Brodie threw these 25-30 yard out patterns for ints. Both at the beginning of games and both deep in our territory.

that sticks in the mind of a lot of fans, myself included.

i think Brodie is a good QB. He certainly has a more powerful arm than any QB i have ever seen at BAMA. i just don't think he has the 'field sense' of the other two QBs.... and you can't teach that. it's one thing to have a fantastic arm, which Brodie does. it's another thing entirely to be able to make the right decision with some consistency while in the middle of a game.

before i scorch to death from all of the flamage

, i want you all to know that i wish Brodie the best if he is the starter, and i will be behind him 100% while he is on the field.

maybe being 'not-injured' will bring out the best in Brodie's ability. i hope so. the things he did in high school may or may not translate into college ball. but if they ever do, BAMA will be completely unstoppable.

All the factors mentioned above had something to do with Brodie's apparent lack of field judgement. Until he has a decent OL, which may or may not happen, we'll not know.

I will add my 2 cents and this is just my opinion. He has NOT lived up to the expectations everyone put on him. All we heard for years was Brodie this and Brodie that, the next Joe Namath, well unless it turns around this, he has not lived up to the expectations. I admire him for his bravery but I feel his size hurts him. As of right now, in my eyes, he does not even compare with Tyler Watts. Just my humble opinion, I like Brodie and want him to excell this year and next. RTR

When have you had a chance to evaluate the "field sense" of Brodie's backups?

Spencer played a couple of possessions in one of the games last year, ran the 2 minute drill for a TD, and looked like he was completely comfortable. that done drive has stuck in my mind ever since.

I watched Guillon take practically every snap at A-Day. even though that's not a high pressure situation, he looked very accustomed to the pocket. i will say that, without seeing him in a real game, the verdict is still out on Guillon.

what a joke-2 drives and everyone thinks spencer is the man......fact is with a decent line brodie never wouldve been hurt. brodie is and will be the man-he will be awesome if given alittle time. carson palmer couldnt run our offense last year with what little time brodie had

Brodie is a great QB, And a even greater person. I'm proud of the young man. To show such heart and soul on and off the field.
We are truely blessed,And very lucky to have such a great kid representing the best team in college football. The CRIMSON TIDE OF ALABAMA. And mark my words, This kid is gonna' shine like a diamond before he's done at the Capstone. I can just feel it.
