I seem to remember a post leading up to the Ole Siss game regarding Spurlock and who might be assigned to "shadow" him.

I wonder if anyone and if so, who will get that dubious honor for keeping track of Mr. Jones??

Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaassssssse !!!!!

I want to see Simeon Castille be Jones' shadow... I wan to see someone hit Jones so hard his ear pads pop out... Please, please, please let it be Castille !!!!!

It will probably be a LB. Any of our guys that can outrun him will be assigned to him. Probably the one with the best ability to read the offense.

Castille would be better left to defend any errant passes from a harassed Matt Jones that might come his way and get picked off.

to assign that role to a cornerback...
I agree, it would probably have to be one of the LB's. But let's just hope that young Mr. Castille gets an opportunity or two to bring some wood to Matt Jones.

Let me stress,,, not to injure him,, just enough to rock his world and make him concentrate waaay too much for the rest of the game on where Simeon is on the field.

I'll second (and third!) that!

Let's get 'em...!

The fastest LB in the nation cant out run Jones, so good-luck with that one. And Jones steps around defenders with ease. Like stepping over cracks on the sidewalk, then safely out of bounds. So there will not be bells getting rung. I guess ya'll haven't seen much of Jones. Remember this name too.... PEYTON HILLIS. he WILL score 2 TD's. Thanks.

Garth is probably one of the fastest LB in the nation. There was a comment made by a Utah St player about how he was the fastest player he had ever played against. Can anyone find a link to that quote. Man this guy is a LB!!! He will put the wood to Jones and the Arkie running backs.

My thoughts exactly,,, the quote included!!!!

Also here's what Nathan said about Juwan!!! "“42 (Garth) is probably one of the fastest players I have ever gone against.”

I've seen enough of him to know how talented he is. I've also seen enough to know that he has a tendency to fumble the ball as well. He doesn't always tuck it in and that creates opportunities for the defense to knock it loose.

Last season, Jones had to be benched last season against Bama because he was ineffective in falling behind 31-10 before Sorahan led the Hogs back.

In 2002, Jones was a paltry 7-18 for 111 yds passing and ran 7 times for 50 meaningless yards in a crushing defeat at the hands of the Tide.

So, yeah, we've seen him. He's a good player who hasn't particularly stepped around any Bama defenders with ease in the past.

And if he's not careful this week, he may suddenly think he's playing at Starkville, when he hears all those bells ringing! ;)

Interesting hypothesis...

that we should fear his stepping around cracks. Year before last, he was ineffectual. Last year, he was pulled after falling behind by three TDs. Who's his backup? Having gotten this shot in, we're not going to let this develop into a "he will - UnHuhh" thread. Save those for the hog troughs...

Surfing around football message boards you can occasionally find the absolute truth in an observation.

With Jones, it's a big part of our plan to be watching his ball control. Just like it's been pointed out here, if he starts scrambling you can bet the LB's will be after the ball.

As to this "shadow theory" let me drop this train of thought on you.

Against UArk...what do you think about have 4-5 LB's in/on a play?
