Late to the show. Work got in the way.

Top of the third, no score. BAMA has had a hit in every inning so far, but no damage yet. Beaver in the circle - great job so far. 0-0 after 2.5 innings.

Bottom of 3rd: weak grounder to 1st, 1 down, followed by a hit batter, nailed her good, right on the thigh, single thru the right side, now first and second for UCLA, 1 down, another single thru the right side, small misplay on wet field, run scores. Now 1-0 UCLA, 1st and 3rd, 1 out. We were playing in for a bunt and they hit it right by us. Ground ball to pitcher, BAMA turns the double play. 1-0 UCLA after 3 complete.

Top of 4th: Johnson, deep fly to left. 1 down. Air looks heavy, lot of rain earlier. Giles walks. Out at second on attempted steal, 2 down. I think it was a hit and run, but there was no hit. Valentine K's, inning over. 1-0 UCLA.

Bottom of 4th, UCLA up: Ground out to second, 1 down, K for Beaver, 2 down, ground out to third, inning over. 1-0 UCLA after 4 complete.

Top of 5th: Dowling singles off the pitcher. Hit the pitcher and bounced off of her into right field. UCLA changing pitchers. Not sure why, the other girl was throwing pretty well. Good crowd for the opening game. Esman gets bunt down, out at first. Dowling moves up to second, 1 down. Heivilin hits a soft liner right over the SS. Dowling had to hold as the SS almost caught it. 1st and 2nd, 1 down. (actually, Dowling was pinch run for). White walks on 4 pitches. Bases loaded for BAMA, 1 down. Lauren Johnson pops out to 2nd base, 2 down. Cahalan singles to right field, 1 run scores, Heivilin out by 15 feet trying to score. Murphy asking for an obstruction call at the plate. Don't know why. He should not have sent her. Inning over, but we do tie it up. 1-1, going to the bottom of the 5th.

Bottom of 5th: Grounder to SS, 1 down, grounder to 2nd, 2 down, grounder to 2nd, 3 down, inning over. 1-1 after 5 complete.

Top of 6th: Jenna Johnson pops out to SS, 1 down. Giles - HBP on 0-2 count, 1 on, 1 down. Wild pitch, Giles advances to second. Valentine - routine pop out to CF, 2 down. Dowling K's. No damage by BAMA. Still 1-1.

Bottom of 6th: Grounder in the hole, safe at first. Bunt, out at first. Runner on 2nd, 1 down. Intentional walk of UCLA's big home run hitter, 1st and 2nd, 1 down. K for Beaver!, 2 down. Oh crap. 3 run dinger to left field. UCLA up 4-1.

That HR hurt…I would not have walked the girl to load the bases but that’s me. The next softball game I coach will be the 1st.

Ground out to SS to end the inning, but BAMA has a huge amount of work to do, and only three outs to do it. Beaver has pitched a great game, but had one pitch a little too close there. Can we come back?

Well, the girl that hit the home run only had 9 for the year. The one we walked has 20.

Top of 7th: Esman flies out to LF - foul ground, 1 down. Heivilin K's, 2 down. White flies out to CF, Game Over. BAMA plays the loser of Duke-Oklahoma tomorrow night. We had six hits, but could barely manage the 1 run. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

According to the bracket, we play the Oklahoma-Duke loser at 6pm tomorrow night. Beaver pitched great today, but threw one bad pitch. We had a chance to do more damage in the 5th when we had bases loaded - 1 out. We got a pop up, then a single to right with 2 outs. Heivilin tried to score from second but was out by 1/2 mile. The catcher had time to catch the ball, do her nails, then make the tag. I think she should have been held at 3rd and give us another shot to hit the ball as the ball was fielded in short right field and it didn't take much to make an accurate throw to the plate. Oh well, I'm not the coach. Let's see what we do tomorrow.

Tough loss. Beaver pitched very well. Lack of a clutch hit has plagued us all year. Gotta put it behind them and get ready for tomorrow. Long road out of the losers bracket but it can be done.
