Rich Rod is the worst fit I can think of at UM- Certain teams have a type of head man and Rod is a square peg trying to fit in a round hole in Ann Arbor. Just not a Big 10 (twelve) type coach.
I agree, although I believe it was made worse by how he left WVU (thus causing unnecessary distractions, etc.). It's like Bill Callahan at Nebraska, except not on the same level. I think Callahan could have been a good fit at some places...
I don't think it's on the same level as others mentioned, but Dan Hawkins could have landed in a much better situation than the one at Colorado. He took a team in complete disarray in a talented league as his first "big boy" job. Now, his credibility is lost, so he can't recruit, so he can't catch up... I think Hawkins would have been much better off had he waited for the right situation.
