Worst year for sanctions?

The consensus has always been 2006 . Since we didn't take a bigger dip into the JUCO ranks , I've always thought 2006 and 2007 . 2008 is when our SR and JR classes are larger again . 2008 should be a veteran squad . JOMO .

2008 will be a good year but I think next year should be. IF our youth was out MAIN problem, then we should see alot of improvement next year. IF our coach os the MAIN problem, then it wont matter how many Sr's we have. I for one (now that I have calmed back down) tend to lean towards our youth being our main problem. We shall see though cause I think Shula is here next year....

It makes me sick to my stomach every time some body
brings up subject of sanctions.

I sure will be glad when ever thing returns to normal and
as bad as I hate to admit it I'm afraid we may never see
that day come.

sorry to make you sick...

i know the probation/sanctions didnt effect our program at all... and we shouldn't have ever lost a game since then... especially in wut was thought to be our worst year to feel the effects..

Sanctions is like the Rebuilding man-law. It will be ok to call a unsatisfactory season a rebuliding year even though no actual rebuilding took place.

2006 was supposed to be our worst year for the sanctions .. True or False?

looks to be true..

and were still going bowling..

im not "embracing mediocrity" im trying to be realistic..

and b4 anyone goes nuts on me about coaching...

i think shula needs to make significant changes or resign..

Don't be so sure about us going bowling.

I would that to be the "bookie" taking odds on that one . The only way we do not play in a bowl is if we don't have any remaining coaches .

Yes , I know all of the possibilities but , does anyone honestly think the Tide will sit at home in place of teams like - San Jose St. , Rice , SMU , Cincy , etc. ? Not very likely is it ?

Right now there are 69 teams for 64 slots . It is a remote possibility that we will sit at home but , I would bet quite heavily against it . Those teams that I listed will not go ahead of the U of A . JOMO .

RTR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:BigA:

2006 is probably the worst year. That mainly has to do with the 2002 class, I think (recruited by Fran, actually signed by Price), and not so much with ability, but with lack of contribution to the program for the long haul. The HS guys signed that year, in terms of eligibility, either graduated last year or were fifth year seniors this year.

First, only about twenty signed letters of intent. A few of 'em were JUCOs (Zach Fletcher, David Scott, Derrick Pope), so they were gone after a couple of years. Two, I think, played four years without a redshirt, DeMeco Ryans and Moose McLain, who I think was hurt most of the time.

That left us with about 15 possible players who could have been five year guys this year. Only six of those ended up on the roster, four starters (Darby, Robinson, Simpson and Clark) and two backups (Tatum and Harris).

Avalos quit school, Chris Browder ended up at Auburn, Chauncy Malone, Earnest Nance, Titus Ryan, & Henry Smith never made it to campus for one reason or another. Two guys transferred, Nic Luke, and Grant Dickey, who followed Fran to
A & M.

'03's numbers were low, too; I think we only signed 17, and about five of them aren't on the team now, although they would be either 4 year seniors like McClain and Castille, or redshirt juniors like Capps and Caddell if they were still around. Another casualty from that class, sadly, is Prothro.

Just for comparison purposes, Auburn's entire starting offensive line yesterday was signed in '02 or '03. Cope, a senior, walked on. Other names from AU's lineup from those classes are Brandon Cox, Carl Stewart, Courtney Taylor, Cole Bennett (injured early this year), Lee Guess, Quentin Groves, Marquies Gunn, Josh Thompson, Karibi Dede, Will Herring, David Irons, Tre Smith and both the punter Bliss and the kicker Vaughn.
