Personally, I think everything happens for a reason. Mac is where he should be in the first place. He has a head coach who wanted him initially in the 2021 draft and a system that is showcasing his strength and talent. Most of all, Mac will be paid very well moving forward as the best back-up in the NFL.

Living in the Bay Area, lots of 49er fans at work and friends have all said they loved Mac and respect his toughness something Purdy unfortunately doesn't have. Most are fine with Purdy on the sidelines while Mac is holding things down.

The irony is that Mac went to a team coach by Saban's buddy. The decisions BB made his last few years did no service to Mac as well as to his team overall. Signs were there for him to hang it up. Now we see holes at North Carolina. The man is collecting a free paycheck and trying to parlay his son a HC hig when he departs.

All of this is further proof that BB could not win anything without the GOAT at QB. I'm believing that more and more. I know on paper BB will always be a HOF coach but ... was he really HOF caliber in ability though?

I’m a Niners fan and we are fine with Mac. Even after the Jags beat the Chiefs, I still stand by my opinion that we would have won had Mac started.

He needs to be your franchise qb, not Purdy. Purdy gets hurt alot and his stats when the star players arent playing is bad. Where as Mac beat the Rams with ALL his best te and wr's sitting out that game. Mac can win with decent receivers, where as Purdy needs stars.

The last few years of CNS and Belichick should be a cautionary tale to any coach about staying too long. Saban almost did, but got out and is a hero for the rest of his life. Belichick stayed too long at New England and is desperately trying to hold on now, with a tarnished legacy. He went from the GOAT to a goat in a heartbeat.

It's amazing to me how a team will use a high pick on a QB, expect him to be the guy, but then not surround him with a good OL or WRs or even a complementary running game. Mac was getting battered and Bryce still is. I find it to be a bold strategy that doesn't work out for them.
