Not a ton of pro wrestling talk on this board but since its Road to Wrestlemania season, I thought I'd open some up. The Royal Rumble is this weekend, and you may or may not know that the main event places The Rock against Current WWE champion CM Punk for the title, as well as the always, well usually, enjoyable 30 man over the top rope elimination Royal Rumble.

I'm unusually psyched about this ppv, due to the punk/rock match up and I always love the rumble match itself. Here's a good article I found today on the betting odds for the event. It's a pretty good write up and felt like sharing.

agreed, even when the rest of the card is bad, the rumble is always worth the money and the only thing that stacks up to Wrestlmania. The rock punk match just makes it more so.

If Cena doesn't win the Rumble, I'm calling for Ziggler to take it. It'll make him the first to have the Money in the Bank briefcase and the Rumble guaranteed title match.

The show was OK and the Rumble itself had its moment, but overall - it was a "play things safe show".

I was disappointed with Punk losing the title, but it makes sense. Sure, Rock/Cena II will draw regardless, but for the matter of perception, it has to be "bigger" than the first match. A title on the line does that. Cena going over the Rock AND winning the WWE Championship will be the story going out of Wrestlemania.

I exploded when Y2J came out and was dissapointed when he was eliminated, though I knew Cena sort of had to win it. I'm mostly just glad Ryback didnt win it. If WWE needed to find a way to get me to pull for Cena it was putting him against Ryback.

I figured punk would drop the belt to Rock, but was cool with it. But I have to say I thought it would be a much better match between the two, I think ring rust on the Rocks part sort of kept the match from being as good as it could have been. Its not easy to keep up with Punk in the ring and Rocks time away really showed last night, I dont' think he was exposed as much against Cena at WM 28 because Cena's speed is sort of slower and his move set is less demanding on his opponent than punks. Deffinatly good to have the Rock back and he and punks promos have been nothing short of brilliant.

I figure the rematch will be much better at Elimination chamber.

I was pulling for ziggler for all of 90 seconds, then Y2J's music hit and I had a new favorite, I genuinely didnt see that one coming also the Goldust bits with Cody were great. I hope we get to see more of those two at WM 29 maybe with Dusty Rhodes involved somehow.

Yeah... Y2J was a great surprise to start off the match.
