Your window on your world? - Part 2

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I love local dives. There are several in the beach community where I live (Ponte Vedra Beach) and nearby areas up and down A1A (Jax Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, etc.). Pizza, subs, hot dogs, burgers, breakfast. All with photographs on their walls showing what the community looked like decades ago. Good food with a side of nostalgia. Makes me very happy to give the locals my money. :)

if you buy it we could use it as TideFans HQ - Atlantic Command Center!

Looks like the owner has now moved in @BamaNation - so not sure the house is going on the market anytime soon, but I will keep you posted! :)

And that's a Ferrari F8 Spyder for anyone interested.

Nice to see another "car guy" in the hood!

I'll have to bring my Volvo over with it's Prancing Moose badges! ;)

Today I had to privilege to meet and have a nice chat with another military veteran at Walmart. He was sitting on one of the inside benches by himself while I went through the self checkout. Korean veteran cap is what tipped me off. :) I finished my checkout and went over to ask if I could thank and shake his hand. He obliged and afterwards we went into about a 15 minute conversation.

Turns out he served from '50 to '54 in the US Navy and then used the GI Bill to attend college at UF where he got his architect degree in '59. He ended up practicing in West Palm Beach and also briefly served as mayor there, moving up here after retirement to get away from the crowds.

Lives with his 3rd wife (it was she that he was waiting for) and had a lot of nice things to say about our beach here. Neither of us brought up the state of Florida football right now...which was OK by me...lol.

He said when he attended UF there were only around 8K students. He also said his architect # is 3094, which I guess is a very low number compared to what it is now.

His wife came up as I was leaving to make sure she was getting the right popcorn for him. Married life! :)

Quick run to grab some new flowers for a couple of my accounts today.....36 Lilac Sunpatiens in 6" pots and a flat of 4" Red Pentas. Those big red things are Hawaiian Ti Plants......

Picking up provisions this afternoon at Walmart and at the self-checkout the lady next to me tells me she just this morning returned from a 3 day trip to Paris in a group of 4 females.

Said you can fly direct out of Orlando now (this was her 2nd time there).

When asked what food she liked the most, she replied she had onion soup 3x day for all 3 days.

Also Bordeaux wine and pastries.

You don't see this every day.........:)

Wednesday is the yard waste day so I always do a little extra tidying up in the mornings before they come. As mentioned before, almost all of my palms are self pruning - crown shaft types - so it's mostly a matter of just carrying the fallen dead fronds out to the curb. Sometimes when I see one a day away from falling I will go ahead and pull it off - which I did this morning on one of my two Royals. These Cuban Tree Frogs LOVE to hang out inside the lower section of the frond where it wraps around the trunk. Not surprising this little one was left clinging to the trunk after I removed the frond.
